Beware the moon’s pale glow, my friend, For the Wendigo’s haunt knows no end. In the silent night, its mournful cries, Echo through the forest, where darkness lies. With antlered crown and eyes aflame, The Wendigo roams for blood to drain. It feasts on lost souls, whispers of dread, with a hunger unyielding, a hunger undead.

@ THE-X-Force, One nit pick, wendigo don't have antlers. That is a modern addition brought about by people confusing skinwalkers with wendigo and vice versa. Actually, skinwalkers only have antlers when they're pretending to be a deer so that's not even that accurate. Neat poem though. 👍

The Wendigo is a creature that warns against the irreversible consequences of resorting to cannibalism in the face of winter deprivation. Such starvation posed a real threat if a community did not prepare for and conserve its resources during the long winters experienced in the Great Lakes basin.

Ever heard of the Donner Party? A group of people that got trapped in a blizzard, in the Sierra Nevada mountains. They had to resort to cannibalism on the bodies of already dead members of their group, in order to survive. Then a few years ago, some new information about the survivors of the Donner Party. While most of the survivors only ate the flesh of already dead bodies in order to survive. Two of the men, resorted to murdering their Native American guides, as well as weaker members of the group. One of these men confessed to his crime, and gave himself up to the authorities. The other ran away into the wilderness, there was a search for the man, but when the weather turned bad. The search was abandoned, and people forgot about the man. Assuming that he most likely died in the storm, or got eaten by an animal. The next few years fur trappers, mountain men, hunters, and travelers started going missing in the area where the Donner Party was found. There were even a few bodies found in the wilderness. Usually found with the back of their heads caved in. In a similar way that some of dead members of the Donner Party were found. The man was eventually caught, and arrested by a sheriff of a town. He was pretty much feral, more savage than human.

Idk if the voice is AI, though (no offence if it isn't, just hard to tell sometimes).

honestly, I also woudn't be surprised if there was a guy waaaaay back in a tribe that had to resort to canibalism and acctually went crazy and hunted people and isolated in the woods imitating birds etc, and all joined with the spiritualism to the birth of the wendigos storys, or maybe not, who can really tell
