Feel free to pronounce it however you like. For years the book fans have disagreed with pronunciation on several of the characters names. Even in the audiobooks the narrators use different pronunciation for the same characters 😂

12:16 The reason Lews sealed Ishamael away instead of killing him was to prevent him from being reborn and continuing his efforts to let loose the Dark One and break the Wheel. One thing to understand about the ongoing relationship between Ishy and the Dragon is that the Dragon is the avatar or defender of the Light and Ishamael is his counterpart for the Shadow. (Also, your assumption about the fate of Barthanes, aka the Lord of Sandwiches, is correct. People who are discovered to be darkfriends are usually executed immediately.)

I'm not sure what the policy is on book info, so I'll leave a bunch of blank lines, even though I think none of this is particularly relevant for the show. In the book the Forsaken weren't intentionally sealed, they just happened to be there when the Dark One was sealed away, and they happened to get sealed in with him. There's thus also not a 1-on-1 link between Forsaken (13) and Seals (7). The Forsaken getting free gradually at first happens partially based on how "close" they are to the edge of the prison (whatever that means in a metaphysical sense :)) Ishamael himself was infact partially freed for a 40 year period every 1000 years, which he used to organise a large invasion of Trollocs, and to influence Arthur Hawkwing, a powerful king, to distrust Aes Sedai, and cause his son to sail west with a large army, which eventually became the Saenchan Empire. I'm not so sure Ishamael is really the Dragon-equivalent for the Shadow across multiple turnings of the Wheel. He might think he is, but he's not exactly sane most of the time :) This time he was His most important servant from the time he switched sides in the Age of Legends up to the last time he died in the Third Age, of course, but I don't think he was really pre-destined to be the Naeblis every time. Normal reincarnation in WoT (that is, not the Dragon, or Heroes of the Horn, or resurrection by the Dark One), does not mean you'll make the same mistakes. So killing him instead of sealing him would've probably been better :) Heck, even if he was the Dragon-equivalent, he might not have been able or inclined to do much until the Dark One's prison started weakening anyway. After all, in the Age of Legends, he was an upstanding and respected Aes Sedai for hundreds of years, until the Dark One was freed. The only reason the Light needs a Champion is because the Creator does not interfere (aside from nudging the Dragon on a few occasions). The Dark One does plenty of interfering (even though Bubbles of Evil etc aren't exactly precise), so he can make do with Darkfriends, and the Pattern does not need to spin out a Champion for him.

The little orb of CGI was the final knot that tied off the shield weave. First you see the shield weave cast on Moiraine and then sink into her, then Ishamael ties the knot with one hand. That's what Rand says he sees when looking at Moiraine in Ep 7. Aes Sedai only know how to maintain the shield, requiring the sisters to be actively holding it in place. This is something the Forsaken know how to do that has been lost in time. Hence everyone assuming Moiraine was stilled.

Important note (not a spoiler): The wheel turns over much more than 3000 years. That’s just the time between the end of the second age and the end of the third age (which is when this story takes place) but there are 7 ages in total which are all different lengths.

There is an entire scene with Lews at the opening of S1 Ep8. He was talking to the Amyrlin and we saw the flying cars.

If Moiraine went back into The Ways she wouldn’t know where to go. Lanfear was the one leading the way. Last season it was Loial leading the way.

The tiny ball was meant to represent the knot Ishamael made when he tied off the weave, not the actual shield.

I agree with you about Rings of Power. Of course, the story they're portraying in that show doesn't really exist in Tolkien's writings. They've concocted that story from bits written about from thousands of years of history condensed into a single time.

I agree the show is good, on a first watch it is spectacular and entertaining, with a few odd moments here and there, that stick out when they forget their own established internal show rules, but eh nothing is perfect, I guess them having to rewrite the whole of season 2 to fix that the previous Matt actor left, put them in a difficult spot. From a book perspective, it quickly becomes very problematic on all sorts of levels, but at least I have the fallback of an alternate timeline of a second turning of the wheel. Matt is born again and he made a silly choice he didn't do in the last turning, but that makes for variety, at least he blew the horn as he was supposed to, and they didn't give that moment to someone else. There have already been several reshufflings of who does what, so I wasn't entirely sure that they would get Matt back on track, for all I knew, they would just have Matt reclaim the dagger and turn to darkness, they had everything hinting in that direction, so I couldn't really be sure when I posted last episode.

you can lock waygates from the inside so lanfear of course did ( and yes the show dont tell that..)

Perhaps, it's unclear. My read was that she channelled to open the waygate, and shove Moiraine and Lan through it, so undoubtedly Machin Shin would be there if they tried to go back through that door. While Moiraine doesn't see it, we do see Machin Shin arrive before Lanfear and Rand pop off. Either way works though.

If Ishamael is safely sealed, the Shadow would lose its champion, the Dragon's other (evil) half, and presumably would never rise again.

Cairhien vs Andor. You said you didn’t care. So ignore this post if you don’t want details about Barthanes and Elayne kingdoms. Barthanes is from Cairhien (capital city has the same name as the country). It’s an eastern kingdom next to the eastern mountain range called The Spine of the World. Currently ruled by a Queen. Elayne is from Andor. A central kingdom just west of Cairhien. Also currently ruled by a Queen. The Two Rivers is the western border of Andor near the Mountains of Mist.

Rings of Power got a shit ton more money than WoT by Amazon and took me awhile to finally force myself to watch all episodes. WoT I watch right away.
