The Who should be given much more credit for influencing rock. In my opinion, they are only behind the two untouchables: The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. They’re top songs are like Leonardo masterpieces and just like Leonardo, they had some in-complete work. Others have had more sales (but if sales is what matters then Jackson is one, two or three on greatest musicians).. If you forget about success and just look at the top songs that each of the Top 5 Bands left us, I say it is the WHO that has the highest average point Masterpieces (Just my worthless opinion). 1) Baba O Riley 2) Won’t Get Fooled Again 3) Dr Jimmy 4) Love Reign O’er Me 5) Behind Blue Eyes (Probably the least unique) 6) 5:15 7) The Real Me (Anyone who loves bass and drums will almost prefer this song over sex. And it describes the mind-set of many struggling teenagers generation after generation) 8) My Generation (Way ahead of its time in bass. At that time, you never heard anything like the Bass solos. It was one of the revolutionary songs of Rock in the 60’s along with “Satisfaction” 9) Who Are You? All of these songs would never make it on the radio in the pop word, but they wrote them (should say ‘he’) anyway. Stones 1) Satisfaction 2) Sympathy for the Devil (Top Level) 3) Gimme Shelter (Top Level) 4) Paint It Black (Top) 5) Start Me Up 6) Brown Sugar (Top) 7) Wild Horses (Top) I put the stones ahead of The Who but not by much. I give the stones the tie breaker because they are The Rolling Stones. But as pure music, Ill take The Who.

I'm going the other way. Saw them both live and The Who wins that battle. I can no longer bear Start Me Up. Thank God for Spotify. I was more of a Led Zep fan until I saw The Who Live. Pete's a heckuva song writer. My top 3 are Rush, The Who, The Beatles. I do like your worthless opinion regarding the highest average point Masterpieces.

The Stones are phenomenally overrated, sorry kids. And the entity that stands head and shoulders above all of them is Ray Davies - masterpiece after masterpiece after masterpiece churned out by The Kinks from '64-'74.

I have the VHS tape of The Who Live Over America 1982 which I bought at Strawberries decades ago, but it doesn't include this song. I'm guessing it was included on the original Pay Per View special in December '82 yet omitted from the VHS tape due to time constraints. I have it on the The Who Who's Last album of course. Were there any other songs showed on Pay Per View that didn't make the commercially-released tape?
@Fakename70

LordRufus This is actually from Thursday 16 December not the final night of the 17th. The CD release of the 17th is missing 3 tracks, by my count. Going from memory as a 12-year old in '82 and seeing it live on CCTV at the Paramount Theater, Seattle: Doctor Jimmy, Behind Blue Eyes, and, Cry If You Want were omitted from the CD. Haven't seen The Who Rocks America VHS version since 1988, so, I can't recall if the 3 are included there.

Fakename70 The only way you can tell the difference the 16th and 17th shows from Toronto is the wrist band on Pete the 16th show Pete wears a red wrist band and the 17th he had a red white and blue wrist band AND that's the only way you can tell the difference BECAUSE they were told to wear the same clothing for both shows because they where being taped for a final video for a future release and they would pick the better of the 2 shows that was recorded for the video release " strange but true."

The general value of the drummer and Kenny Jones is low. The achievements for which he left it is very interesting. Because their sound difficult up to that. The point which was arranged by his play and became easy to accept is big.
