one of the best songs from this show (i was at this one and the night before), and a very underrated song. The ending dynamic is quite amazing, better than the record.

I went to see them in Oakland, CA at the Coliseum in Oct 82. It was the first BIG concert I ever went to! I went with my sister in law at the time. Sat like 5 miles away, but had binocs. WOW! Saw them with the Clash and T. Bone Burnett. Still have my t-shirts and program. Been to a lot of concerts since. This was one of the best ones I ever went to! What memories!

At the tender age of 11 I listened to this show on the radio in the middle kitchen with my Mom in Philadelphia. My Brother went to the Tower Theater also in Philadelphia to watch it broadcast live over the satellite. I was heartbroken having never seen them until 1989 and over 20+ shows and 30 years later hear I am still loving THE WHO! Long live Pete Townshend!

I know some fans dig this song (based on a Townshend demo called "Popular"), but I will never understand why "I've Known No War" from the "It's Hard" album wasn't played live, much less released as the 1st single. Rolling Stone Magazine felt it was the best song the band had done since "Won't Get Fooled Again." I don't think I would take it THAT far, but it had an anthemic quality to it, and the lyrics were so timely.

I was at this show. Still have the ticket stub and t shirt. It was also broadcast live on cable television in Ontario at the time. A real treat for those who could not attend. It was kinda hinted that this was thier "final" tour as a creative band. Essentially they were correct. I really missed Kieth Moon (RIP) but Kenny was great.

I watched the concert, and cable did a great job of carrying it. John's mistake on 'Dangerous' made me smile. In fact, his error was one of the reasons I stuck with playing bass. It showed me that even the best of the pros mess up; that made me feel better about MY mistakes. A truly valuable lesson :)....

I love The Who 1979-82. Of course Moon was fantastic. But he was dead and the band made two (now 3) really stinking good albums without him. Face Dances, It's Hard, and Endless Wire are as good as By Numbers and Who Are You.

The dvd isn't missing any songs from the VHS (most played vhs I ever owned) and there were more songs than Dr. Jimmy and Cry If You Want played at the show not on the video...... also, they didn't play the same setlist every night on this tour. Still probably my favorite live show to watch of all time, though there's some Peter Gabriel that's close......

Même au bord de la rupture et sans Keith, il reste quelque chose de fantastique avec eux, une magie qui fait qu'à 3.37 jusqu'à la fin , The Who est l'un des plus grands groupes de les temps. Quel frisson et quel bonheur...

Because it's John Entwistle. Why would they? The Ox wasn't very flashy but he was the greatest on the Bass guitar. part of the lure of him is you didn't really see much video of him

@tpep55 sadly no, but back in the day, VHS tapes were really far more superior than they were once the 90's came. I purchased "The Who Rocks America" on Ebay still brand new, and released in 83, and the video and sound are comparable to a DVD and that is no exaggeration! Try and find a mint condition copy.....you won't regret it!!!!

Yeah, it's a common problem to for many uploaders to KZitem. The only thing you can do is run it through video making program and compress it a a very high rate. Windows Movie Maker won't do. Any more uploads from this concert would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps "The Quiet One". It's a killer version from this concert!

@tpep55 Yes, it's called The Who Live From Toronto. Simultaneously released on CD/DVD in 2006. But, it's missing 3 tunes from this show; "Behind Blue Eyes", "Doctor Jimmy" and "Cry If You Want". But, those can all be found here at KZitem, albeit in poor 1982 video quality.

The Who is my favorite band of all time, but the studio version of this is better. The guitar and vocal sound is not "in front" enough in this, and most, versions from the 82 tour.

This 1982 gig gets me so confused. Some tracks are awesome, impecable, great, epic (like this one and The Quiet One, for example). Yet some miss something. I don't really know what. lol Maybe some of the old songs feel different with Kenney on drums? I guess it's something like that. Love Reign O'er Me of this show makes me wonder what was missing right there. I Can't Explain, on the other hand, is great. Yeah, overall, excelent gig.

If you have Mac then even imovie is not bad. Just check your settings. Also with Mac, FCP will make your vids look almost HD but it doesn't come with Mac and ain't cheap. There are so many programs for windows that I don't know where to start. If you are really that interested then go to a software store and see what they suggest. I guess Windows Movie Maker if you don't have anything else.

Yeah, that's interesting to observe, since Jones has a much better performance with the Faces. I like him with the Who (of course not as much as Moon with the Who), but if you listen to any Faces tracks you understand what I'm saying. He is a great drummer, he just isn't, well, "right" for the Who.

It's the drums that are off. Looking at this it's easy to see why Roger didn't like Kenney Jones as a drummer for the Who. There's nothing wrong with what he's doing but there's nothing exciting about it either. Moon injected drama, suspense and humour. Jones is just predictable.
@sloooog

I respect your opinion, but I do like Jones' drumming. While he may not be as abstract and acrobatic as Moon, he certainly can lay a solid groove and his snare work really catches my ear. I don't think Moon's classic style would work with the material they were writing during the later 70's and early 80's after his death. Then again, his absence may be why they wrote more material like this song.
