They were without a doubt the most dynamic performing live band. I saw them in '82, my first concert. Even without Moon it still was epic. My older Brother took me to it. He was a bonafide Stones / Zeppelin person. Never had a Who album of his own. He saw Zeppelin in '77 and the Stones in '78, and pretty much any big band that the late 70's had to offer. But after the Who concert he said it was a far better show live than the other two gave. And even before he passed in '99 he still said it was the best concert he had ever been to. For whatever reason he was really happy of all their "expect to hear" tunes in the setlist that they played Squeeze Box.

November, 1975. The Summit had been open for about 6 weeks, the home court for the Rockets and ice for the Aeros hockey team. I was 17 and finagled my way into getting a job selling popcorn at games. I had a laminated pass from Harry M Stevens Vending that got me into The Who that night...sat 10 rows from the stage, directly in front. After the concert a buddy of mine who was a bartender there found me in the crowd and told me to hang tight, we're gonna party with The Who, he said. I had mid term finals the next day but oh, well! Long story short, we followed the entourage to the Galleria Hotel, top floor and watched as Moonie danced with about 10 bare chested big tittied ladies for a "Squeeze Box" party, Entwistle got thrown in jail for being D&D, spoke with Pete a little...time of my life.

With Keith's 🥁 still on the Stage Floor. (No 🥁 Riser) They remained basically a Power Trio! Which enabled The Who to have these spontaneous live Jam's! Improvising 🎶 Through the Tommy set! They truly were a magical Group! Mick Jagger's young Ego! Kept the Rock and Roll Circus movie from being released until the late 80's. Because He thought "The Who" had blown away The Stones Live!! With They're Pre-Tommy song, "A Quick One" While He's Away! The Who were 1 of the best Bands Live in the early days & late 60's. The Who Opened for Herman's Hermits 1966 🇺🇸 Tour. Herman's Hermits never Toured again? 🤔

this is damn good. I always tend to think their best period was from, well, first signing in '63' til about '72 ish. I listen (like the rest of this house),usually to the Woodstock 'Sparks'.but YT proves again that they had their moments on any given night, especially if they were relatively sober that afternoon and evening. and no LSD was thrown in their dixie cups.

THe crush was so strong you were FLOATING. It was not for the faint of heart!)), John Entwistle said that tour was so good, they could have played forever. My theory is Moon peaked around 72 or 73. Drinking and drugs took their toll by 75 so he was a shadow of his former self. He decided one way to remain relevant is to increase the size of his kit: two rows of toms, timbales, additional cymbals, hi-hat, etc. Since his talent was compromised, a bigger kit offered him an equal amount of attention.

@michaelworse6034 It's one of his many Les Paul Deluxes he had, in various colors. And Pete cherry-picked those from a truckload of Deluxes. So he was sure to get the best sounding ones. Les Paul's are like that - they all sound different. He got the best ones. And he played them through the best amps at that time. I have duplicated his tone chain. But I don't have a gold top.....yet....that one that he played through the 70s was a really good one and didn't get smashed!
