David Cleasby Hey Dave I saw them in Phila. Pa a day before your Buffalo show in "82" and what I've learned it was more of Roger who had a problem with Kenny " that ultimately pushed Kenny out" Pete was kinda OK with Kenny's time keeper style of drumming BUT either way my show in Philly with 100.000 in attendance was by far my all time greatest concert THE WHO with Pete's guitar slashing the stadium and John's sonic bass waves beating off my chest AND Roger singing unbelievable on that tour and Kenny holding his own, it was a pleasure of a lifetime to experience the power of the WHO in 82" because their sound system for that tour was massive " I think the ground is still rumbling at the old JFK stadium in Philly." Dave is it true in that Buffalo WHO concert that it started to rain during " Love reign O'er me" GREAT MEMORIES OF THE WHO OUTDOOR STADIUM SHOWS " 1982 tour." It Was Great.

Hey Ya-all- Kenny is a great rock drummer and he has that reputation sense the early 60's. But when this band was form there drums beats were free hand not formulated to a time scale rock beat. And if your an old timer like me you sure can tell it in these songs recorded with Kieth. It sounds like old men dragging ass, its weird. I love The Who, but Kieth was one of my favorite drummers. Yeah Kenny's taking some heat but that's only because he took the place of one of the greatest drummers in rock&roll history.

@marcweeks9178

Agreed. Waiting for Jones to finish a fill was like waiting for a train. This was the drumming version of painting by numbers. Zak Starkey made this band sound younger in 2000!
From the time code mark 5:33 to the synth break and then from Kenny's drum solo on-wards to the very end is nothing short of some sort of musical 747. Just amazing the bass harmonic undertones that " The Ox' lays down ( he is all over the fretboard) and then Pete with his over the top guitar. (windmills and all that). Kenny's drumming was rock solid, maybe a little "too dependent" on the snare, but good strong fills non the less. We all know he wasn't Keith, but than Keith wasn't Keith either towards the end. Kenny did a dam good job from '79 to' 82. Pete and his issues were the problem in those years. Even after "his miracle cure" his heart for the band wasn't ever the same . They should have just taken a few years off. (my opinion) I remember this show here in the states I video and audio taped the simulcast w/ some very good equipment. This show played back on hi-end equipment wrecked my ears forever. RIP, Keith & John.

Someone posted in another Who video that the Who were a hard rock band that were not based in blues. They were not based in Jazz or country. They were pure rock. And the finest example of it too. Beatles were a pop band. Please Please Me, I Want to Hold Your Hand, This Boy, stuff like that was pop music. Then the Stones came on with their blues stuff. All their earliest music was blues. Then the Who came on the scene with genre defining rock. I remember the first time I heard My Generation. Who are these guys? My friend shows me the album cover. They are called the Who!

We all love Moonie when he was in his prime, but fact is Kenney is killing it here and did a great job from 1979-82. People forget Moon declined tremendously after 1975 and could barely play on Who Are You. Watch the Kilburn Concert, he is way past his prime in 78. They were even talking about firing Moon in 78, something they don't bring up anymore today. If Moon had lived and the Who carried on with him after 78 they would have been pathetic live. Whether Roger wants to admit it or not, Kenney brought new energy to the Who in 79. Roger only wants to remember the Keith Moon from 1973, that Keith was long gone by 78 and could not have played at the level Kenney is playing at here.

Louisville, KY Orlando, FL and on the simulcast on HBO, ( the first of such types of Concerts (1982), that are common today. each show was a little different, the HBO show was the most laid back of the 3 (even Roger said so) saw them in 1980 in Lexington, KY and they were into that night! and they still played LOUD! sure hope to see then again 2015 Tour. and I agree, wish I could see this song without the video effects blocking out the WHO.
