Awesome!!! I appreciate that you used 3 Feet Cycling Sag! Long Story short, 3 Feet was started with the goal to bring attention to the 3 Feet laws in the states, following a death at a state event and the need to improve rider safety. Was originally launched by Craig Henwood (Who passed at a bike race in 2019) and myself. It is now run by the highly capable hands of Jeff McCool. Thanks for the plug. Cheers.

@Chris Lee as you said you weren't there. I was. As I understand it, the decision to not re-route was made around midnight, when the road was not muddy, and the XL riders had made it through with no issues. Then a storm hit around 2 or 3 am. I have also heard some saying that the possible re-route had a section that was flooded. But all of that is irrelevant to my point. My point is gravel racers as a rule, relish challenges and overcoming adversity. So, a race that presents challenges and adversity, may drive some away, but it's not going to end the popularity of this event or others like it.

Walking in mud, cycling big gravel with 30 degC heat and dehydration, finished with heavy rain then chilled to the bone - look on the bright side guys, it could have been blowing a hooley. Now I see the need for mechanisms to remove or reduce mud collecting on gravel bikes?? Hang on…..aren’t they called mudguards🙃 Seriously I not so sure mudguards would have been a benefit in those conditions.
@danielakerman8241

Those conditions are ridiculous. That’s not a gravel race, it’s a mud trek. I think it’s unacceptable that they had those conditions and hundreds of riders had to walk their bikes for miles through mud. And the further back in the pack you are, the worse it gets. It’s supposed to be a fun but challenging sportive/Gran fondo, not a 200 mile cyclocross event

OUTSTANDING race video but I absolutely hate you!!! :) I attempted the 200 and DNF at mile 79. It was sheer hell. Why didn't I audible to the 100? Thanks for the pro tip about picking a line while walking the bike through the mud in the road. I did not even think of that- instead I pushed my bike through the grass on the side of the road and continually had to stop to unclog my wheels. I'm 62 with slipped discs in my neck so toting the bike on my back is not doable for me but I should have been smarter about where I pushed my bike. It took me 2 hours and 45 minutes to cover the 3-4 miles of mud. But I was not alone. Of the 73 men in the 60+ AG, only 24 finished. The 49 DNFs resulted in a whopping 67% attrition rate. Only 1 out of 3 riders in my AG finished/2 out of 3 riders did not finish. BRUTAL! I'll be back next year for the 100 for sure (if I get drawn) and perhaps the 200- TBD! PS Jack bears a stunning resemblance to Peter Sellers in appearance and demeanor- this video was hilarious!

Anyway, you guys really captured the three distinct parts of the day very well. The Death March, the sweltering heat (praying for rain), and then the thunderstorm. Wish I had video of the wildest part of the storm. I arrived at Rocky Ford, just as it hit. No words can describe it how wild it was at that point.
