When going through difficult times, rewatching childhood films takes you back to a place where you are safe, happy, and without a care in the world. And fills your soul with hope and excitment, distracting you from all of your problems for a short while. What a beautiful story, animation and music. Thank you for being part of my childhood and being something I can come back to, to feel at home again.

🇬🇧 Im nearing 70yrs & i ve watched these animations year after year & never tire of them. They are comforting & dependable & cheer from within They belong to a safer & more gentile past, containg something indefinable but its pleasant & almost like getting cuddles from your mum. There is that long ago child in all of us, & watching or reading Wind in the Willows, lets that child resurface, letting us forget for a while, our struggles & strife. So i shall continue my yearly visit to the River Bank. Peace 🇬🇧👧

Oh bother, this movie forever captured my childhood & heart. I feel as I enter a new phase in my life, it’s almost as if I transcend into a new character depending on the season I’m coming into... when I was young and foolish and over indulgent, I was Toad. I’ve been sensible crowd pleasing Mole, and have entered the stage of wise, spiritually called and I’m tune-Ratty. Between motherhood of Otter and wise Ratty. Badger will be towards the end of my life I’m sure. Does anyone relate? This movie speaks to me in a whole new way now that I’m older. The story line between Ratty & Mole I’ve come to understand as when I was little I didn’t as much.

I am now almost 79 and having the time to reflect on a past often turbulent life, I can now look back with affection on a still innocent childhood, even in wartorn London without a father. We now live in again an age of violence and cycnicism, via the Farages, Trumps, Bannons and others of their ilk we are now living yet again being attacked on all sides by those whose only viiews are of Nationalisms and hatreds. Somewhere along the way we have already lost what I thought were lessons for life - notably that we are all very much the same, but somehow we are seeing the thugs and hooligans having their obscene philosophies appearing almost daily, with less and less criticisms of what they are propagating. Is mankind doomed to keep repeating the murderous lifestyles that came to disgustig fruition in Two World Wars? Have we learned NOTHING about living together sharing the same planet and just taking a reasoned view of other's opinions? I now hear of everyone 'putting their country first' as some sort of mantra but what do we mean by this? That we are somehow superior or better human beings than others? That's what I keep hearing, and it nauseates me. Maybe my generation messed up, but let the so-called better educated and intelligent younger ones learn something from our foul-ups and not simply repeat them. These films were from a more innocent age, and despite the abounding problems of the times still touched our humanity and in most cases stayed with us. Surely we are capable of recapturing that much at least? I can't believe that would be such a bad thing.

"Its the very end of everything for toad. The popular & handsome toad. The rich & kind-hearted toad. They'll all forget me. Wise, old *Badger*. Clever, intelligent *Rat*. Sensible *Mole*. It really is the end. The utter, bitter end of goold ol'*Toad*" (Toad weeping in his cell) Later after toad managed to escape from jail. Mole: "We shan't forget toad, not ever"

I would fall asleep to this movie and let it replay through the night. Could never pay attention long enough to watch the whole thing in one sitting but it was such a peaceful movie that I’d leave it playing when I needed noise as a kid haha

manzilla48 I don't know if I like the fact that Toad was stealing and escape from prison. I like the idea he was framed better by the weasels.

Thank you for uploading this version of "The Wind in the Willows", before you did I looked for it for a long time but only managed to find "The Willows in Winter". It's like having some soup, wrapped up in a cosy blanket by and open fire, peaceful and comforting.🌹

There seem a few incidents missing from the story - Ratty meeting the sea rat that led to his desire to travel for example but still a lovely story for any age group. The author, who was of all things a bank manager, based the characters on real people - his son's rambunctious personality was Toad. I believe his son did cause a female literary agent to have an accident with her car.

I've been on a binge lately for everything related to The Wind in the Willows. This is by far the most beautiful version I think I've found, though it's fascinating how each one handles the scenes (sometimes in different orders even.) One thing I can't decide is the order for The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Wayfarers All. For some reason, in the book, while they're both beautiful the chapters seem pretty detached from the overall story, so no two adaptations seem to incorporate them (if at all) the same way. Like here, they have it at the end of their first summer and I like the way they did it because this sort of dream sequence for Ratty going far out to sea and being brought out of it confused and saying it might have been some magic or phantom song or something could be seen as some foreshadow to his "dream song" he hears from The Piper. He's more sensitive to these things than some. But in a case where they had their run in with The Piper first, and then Ratty has this episode of being possessed by the call of the sea, it gives a sense that something has changed in him from previous years. He knows the animals who migrate do this every year regardless, but *this* year he's got his heart aching for it too. So even if he was made to forget, the song lingered with him long after the others couldn't hear. Just food for thought, I guess.

I adore this film....so timeless...so well done! Saw it many times when i was a kid along with the Willows in Winter which i had on VHS as a young kid! What a treasure this is! Takes me back to the days when i felt like i was actually with all of the characters in the story! The animation is pristine and the voiceover acting is phenomenal!

When Mole walks through the Wild Wood, it quite reminds me of the Disney character Snow White when she was running into a scary forest full of trees with frightening faces. Quite scary for Mole and Snow White to walk through scary forests.
