I just opened a bottle of Barbaresco from 1976. I had this bottle and I have another one that is a Barolo from 1959 as a gift from friends in Italy. I never tasted a wine that is so powerful and remains on your palate for so long and continues to develop even after 30 minutes. Now I don't know what to expect from the Barolo from 1959 :)) I will open that at a more special event.

Thank you for your explanations. It helps a lot. Thumps up from #CilentoArea #AlburniMountains #SalernoCity #CampaniaRegion #SouthernItaly I suggest you to give a look at the wines of that area, they are lovely, great wines and there are many autochthonous grapes.

We lived near Chamonix and used to go through the Mont Blanc tunnel and stay near Barolo at Castillo de Novello just up the valley, the Nebbiolo grapes off the vine as we drove down to Barolo were sweet juicy and delicious, maybe I’m biased but I absolutely love Barolo, it’s the greatest of Italian wines, different but comparable to Burgundy premier crus IMO.

Yep, Barolo it's one of the greatest but not the greatest of all to me (yet I admit that at this high level, it becomes a matter of personal taste). My personal podium is: 1 Sassicaia 2 Amarone 3 Barolo and Barbaresco (I can't choose between these two, honestly)

Why does food from Piemonte take a "richer and earthier form than foods from farther south"?
@appalachians1
4 жыл бұрын
it's not. that's some classic north/south prejudice in Italy that infiltrates everything. The food in the south is said to be better and it probably is

Buy this bottle for 100 dollars, but never open it, for the wine is no good.
