This cinematic was extremely well done, the cgi was top notch and like you said it really captured the essence of what the Witcher series is about. I love how the bruxa(vampire) is singing this lullaby like song that makes the Witchers out to be the monsters, and It kinda left me feeling sorry for the "monster" in the end. It really does speak to the running theme in the series of the monster is not always an inhuman creature but rather a very human one, and the Withchers i.e Geralt straddle that gray line in between. Can't wait for this game, just finished reading Blood of Elves and you should really consider finishing it before the game as it really delves into Ciri's relationship with Geralt, Yennefer, and even Triss.

In my opinion, the Saga books are much more important than the short stories themselves, because large parts of them are told from Ciri's perspective, and Ciri is arguably the main character in the story, all events revolve around her. There are 2 short stories, 1 in each collection, that set up the entire arc, those being "A Question of Price" and "Something More". So for a speed read just to prepare for Wild Hunt, I would read those 2, and then read the Saga, though it's most likely too late to start now.
@Merdo195
9 жыл бұрын
Daniel Andersen Yes I would recommend the same and really it is not too late. It's not like you are forced to play the game on launch. The books aren't that long. Takes around 7-10 hours to read one book if I had to guess.
@TheDjacdk
9 жыл бұрын
Merdo195 I would agree, if the last 2 books and Sword of Destiny didnt require you to read on a monitor or tablet since for me, my reading speed was reduced dramatically when I switched from paper after Baptism of Fire, read the first 4 books, including Last Wish in about 3 days, then read Tower of the Swallow, Lady of the Lake and (mistakenly) finished with Sword of Destiny, which took me about another 5 days to read on a borrowed iPad. Though I will second the opinion that the fan translations are remarkedly well done, I expected them to be almost unreadable, and they were very close to the official translations in my opinion.
@TheDjacdk
9 жыл бұрын
***** I completely agree that reading all the short stories is a good idea, I was simply suggesting skipping some of the less essential ones if limited on time. I know nothing about Season of Storms, other than that it hasn't been translated yet, so I haven't had the chance to read it.

One thing people don't comment about on this trailer though is the SONG she was singing. Its as if its a scary lullaby/folk tale passed around monsters that he's going to EAT you. Witchers FUCKING EAT monsters, which is a REALLY cool concept which I kind of wished they shoved in our faces more because that is fucking metal.

You are great :) As a native Polish I've been reading these books back in 2002 or 2003 when the series of 5 books came out, and shortly it became my beloved story. I loved the characters, atmosphere and dark humor. Back then i couldn't even think that The Witcher game will ever be released, and to be honest I didn't care because the books were so freaking good. I don't know if the english version of books is equally entertaining, but I can tell you from my point of view that the original version is just a masterpiece. I often coming back to this titles. Best regards from Ireland. ;)

+Michal T. I have read the whole saga twice, and I have to say that, as an entertainment product, games are way better than books. I´m sick of reading polish fanboys saying that those novels are the best since Lord of the Rings. Sarkowsky made a great job by creating the characters and the "universe" (and CD Project a better job by recreating it in the game), but altogether, is a very crappy saga of books. At least half of the content of the novels is superfluous. Sarkowsky artificially lengthen the saga just for selling more books. The whole story of Ciri, the elves, the prophecy, etc. don´t have any importance for the outcome of the story and, at the end, it seems that he just get tired of Geralt and kill the main characters just because.

I propose to read Andrzej Sapkowski's trylogy (Narrenturm, Gods Soldier & Lux Perpetua). "Storm Season" - new story about Geralt is good story. "Maladie" by Sapkowski is also worth to read.

There are two tomes of short stories and a 5-tome saga about the witcher. PLus.. recently another tome of short stories appeared (I'm talking about Polish versions) I've read it in Polish (original) and what should strike you when you read it all is that even though witchers undergo mutations and are said not to be humans, Geralt seems to be more human in his actions than most people. At the same time he kind of ponders the question of who he is, as witchers are said to be incapable of feeling, but he does that in cool, indirect yet accurate way .. far from being bitchy. Sapkowski has done a wonderful job and it's good that some people will read the books thanks to the game. I'm glad you like both books and the game

This was a great video. Stumbled across it looking at all the new Witcher vids. I loved this cinematic! I really felt bad for her at the end when you saw the tears rolling down her face. She was probably so scared. It made me wonder what could have been said between the two of them that would have changed how this ended. It's not often Geralt gets to speak with the monsters he slays. (that i'm aware of. just getting into the series) It's usually attack on site so I loved that they had a moment. I can't wait to read the series so I'm going to avoid any videos about them.

you kinda look like the vampire before transformation. Which is a good thing.
