Funny comment, but why does everyone wank Geralt? That isn't to say that Geralt isn't a badass or that he isn't the most skilled man in any given room, but you throw enough well-equipped, competent men at him and he's going to eventually go down. Geralt got out of this situation in one piece because of the chaos of it all. Trust me, if everyone there focused their sights on Geralt specifically, he'd be a goner.

You’d especially notice that if you ever played the Witcher games
@RatchetandSly

@@vietnameeseguy Yes, Geralt has enhanced reflexes and if he is under the influence of potions, he is incredibly dangerous. However, when Geralt is not under the influence of potions, he is significantly less dangerous. He had to take potions in order to fight Renfri and her band (in The Last Wish book). Geralt is 'sober' here. If everyone in the room focused on Geralt, he would not have been so lucky. I'm making this argument because a Geralt who is vulnerable is much more interesting than a Geralt who is unstoppable. For the record, I have played and beaten all 3 games, watched the series, and have read halfway through the book series.

Also they use actual fighting logic. The Butcher of Blaviken fight was good, but they fought on at a time in an open street when any real thugs would surround and beat you senseless. In this scene Duny gets beat up because he gets surrounded, then as Geralt and Eist join the fight we see them keeping the area between them clear so they each only have to worry about attacked from a specific direction. Combined with amazing choreography that reflects each of their martial training (Witchers continuously moving, Skelligans wrestling each other, Duny pivoting but staying in place) this is easily one of the greatest fight scenes ever recorded despite it being so short.

Yennefer's story starts at least 20-30 years prior to Geralt's story (which is clearly obvious by episode 5 and 7), Geralt's story starts 12-13 years before Ciri's story. Ciri's story is set in the "present time" and is the furthest ahead in the timelines, which all eventually converge at the same time. The Books were written this way, and you call it "Bad storytelling" despite it being very obvious that their timelines are set differently in accordance to the books to allow the characters to build without overlapping with another's story, and allows us to suddenly understand where the puzzle pieces fall into place.

@@KeithJDavies Agreed. I think that's more likely. No disrespect to the OP, but Geralt's never been the type to refuse to fight because he's afraid of death. Suicide missions are literally his thing. Witchers know the risks. Death comes with the job. To them, it's nothing more than an occupational hazard. There's a reason why they say "No witcher has ever died in bed." He fought a Striga until dawn bare-handed when he could have simply killed her. No, Geralt only hesitates to fight when he doesn't want others to get hurt.

If you rush in a save a man he'll feel indebted to you the rest of his life, instead of you let them handle it on their own they can feel liberated and free. There are some fights that you should let people handle on their own. However, as more and more knights rushed to join the fight Geralt eventually decided that honor was no longer a factor and now it was time to just win the fight.

I remember getting so excited over this scene. Casual watchers at this point don't know what the Law of Surprise is. But it's serious enough to get the Queen upset, and for men to draw arms with intent to kill when it gets invoked. And awesome for Geralt stepping in, to try and do the right thing, whether he believes in Destiny or not. And the Queen is struggling with her passions, vs. the significance of the Law. She doesn't want her daughter to be married to the cursed hedgehog, but she knows she screwed up when she called for Dunny's head.

A lot of fans are now signing a petition to have the crappy showrunners removed and that's probably why Henry is no more. They think they can just do whatever with a story we deeply love, they think they can milk us for money by replacing the one we like, they don't give a damn about the wishes and feelings of their own fans, but in the end they won't collide with nothing but hatred for what they've done... If you're interested, I can share the link to the petition, anyway, as a way to support Henry and his beautiful incarnation of Geralt of Rivia.
