I was so disappointed by the Thanedd Coup. This was an episode I thought they couldn't possibly mess up too badly. But everything you mentioned, I also noticed while watching. All those weird moments and how so many important characters acted without the audience knowing their motivations. Cahir's sudden change of heart was wild and didn't work for me. And I missed Geralt actually fighting his way through all that chaos (instead of randomly killing Rience), his rising urgency while searching for Ciri, his talk from the books with Cahir (which sadly wouldn't make sense in the context of the show),... I was truly excited for this episode, despite everything, but it's one of their worst imo. The chemistry between Geralt, Jaskier and Milva was truly AMAZING though and I'm also mighty sad that this will be the only scenes we'll ever have with them. I won't be watching s4. Henry was perfect as Geralt and I can't imagine this show without him.

oof although i feel your pain i really cant help but troll you for not expecting this....most of S1 and S2 is based on SHORT STORIES for crying out loud...all they had to do was take one chapter at a time and adapt it into an episode...short stories are hard to write because theyre basically self contained and can be taken entirely out of context which is ideal for making a tv show....but they messed all that up....of course theyre going to mess up what is basically the culminating point of a whole novel book

I liked how they conveyed the rebelion on Thanedd, the event itself was shown very well and the events in general followed the canon (with a few exceptions and it was good), but everything that happened after that I would call a lame adaptation with lazy implementation and bad graphics. There was also a good fight with Vilgefortz. I would give this season 6/10 better than season 2 (on season 1 lvl it seems) but no more. I don't know what's in store for the show in the future, but there's clearly no good if they don't change or fix the mistakes they've done and continue to do in the past.

Man Cahir was done so dirty, it's a damn shame when his arc is a wonderful part of the books. A knight in black who seems evil, haunting Ciris nightmares when really he was noble all along and saved her in Cintra but couldn't help her with the trauma. They made him murder a bunch of randos, play second fiddle to Fringilla for a season, murder a random elf only to then throw himself at Ciri's mercy? what a damn mess. Rushed as hell when that payoff wouldn't come for another books worth of tension as he follows Geralts fellowship for unknown reasons.

Stregebor's entrance speech was cool. But did his fire magic even do any significant damage to the elves to really buy Yennefer time? It didn't feel like it. Also, Tissaia's Alzur's Thunder, while the show tried to make it out to be impressive, it felt a bit weird with Francesca just blocking it with her shield without consequence. Tons of other stuff that were weird and out of logic, but at this point I'm not even surprised with this show. At the end of it all, Henry Cavill and us Witcher fans (who wanted this show to be good and respect the lore) just deserved so much better. Honestly it felt, at times, that the show only shifted to Geralt when it absolutely needed him to do something, and was very reluctant to take any focus away from Yen or Ciri. Given the treatment of the witchers themselves, it's almost as if the showrunner would have preferred not to have them in the show at all if possible. Personally, I was incredibly put off by the end of season 2, to the point that I couldn't even bring myself to watch Cavill's swansong in season 3, because this show is so much more interested in everyone but Geralt.

Only just got around to watching the last 3 episodes because I was afraid how they would turn out and man, I was right about that... My expectations were very low but then Filavandrel just got randomly exploded for no reason and people went back and forth places in such stupid ways and I just knew that I should have set my expectations even lower. The ways Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri went around outside of Aretuza made absolutely no sense and Radovid somehow made it to Aretuza before Jaskier, without being killed, let alone stopped, after his people just attacked the place. Those things pretty much showed me what an even bigger mess than I imagined these last 3 episodes would be. Episode 6 had so many stupid, senseless things in it, I agree that episode 7 felt much too drawn out and episode 8 was actually somewhat alright I suppose, at least in comparison to the other 2. The scenes between Geralt, Jaskier and Milva were some of the better scenes of these episodes, in my opinion. But I still can't get over them just randomly exploding Filavandrel for no good reason whatsoever in episode 6. That scene actually made me use "the f*ck spell" as well, it was just so stupid. It served no real purpose, other than getting Francesca mad I suppose. They could have just as well not killed her brother earlier in the season and instead have him die in episode 6. It's not like his death in the first part of the season served any purpose either.

Katie McGuinness would have rocked that role... and just looking at the voice cast in total.... some of them would have actually been fitting to show up as their own characters.. The moment i saw it i clicked. Had to see what you thought, Ill edit when i finished, just wanted to comment to help the video get more attention early Edit: So I watched it, and couldnt agree more. It was a mess... for the most part. To me it feels like there was a lot of chaos in the writers room but the actors, they did a good job I think.

I've seen some posts stating that Netflix is not continuing the show and season 3 is the last season are these rumors or true?

apparently it has been postponed due to strikes in the USA, but that's all I know

Great review! I agree with most of your points, however I found the portrayal of Milva to be super annoying. She keeps berating and insulting Geralt and Jaskier for no apparent reason, and after all that, of course she has to come to Geralt's rescue in the end even though that was supposed to be HIS send-off fight scene. Furthermore, I can't help but feel like the delivery of her lines is robotic and not at all authentic. I for one am glad that I won't be missing out on future scenes with her.

Actually the way this season ends is totally intentional because is a sort of cliffhanger with Ciri joining the rats and Geralt and his party departing to Nilfgard, but for me this was the end and a sad one too because this series had so much potential but they decided to waste it in ideological agendas!!!

How come Geralt didn't use any thunderbolt when fighting Vilgefort? That would have been the first thing to do. He had to lose, but it was an obvious move he should have done.

I want to know how they are going to explain a whole new Geralt at the start of the next season. Are they even going to acknowledge it?

Personally I grew tired of hating on the (shit)show after season two. I watched season 3 just for fun, not caring about the story, laughing at its problems and appreciated some of their creativity like Tissaia's Alzur's thunder or the dimeritium arrows. I think it's a good strategy.

The joining of swords would have been cool if it was a single person dual wielding.... Like Tartaglia or Proto Gilgamesh

Hopefully the RATS will include Ciri so the fourth season (if it ever happens) can skip all that which seemed like a diversion in the books.

It’s a real pity what they’ve done with the show, hoping it will get better but in a way I hope it gets redone and remade from scratch in the future so cavil can come back, maybe not to reprise his role as Geralt but possibly Vesemir which I think would be cool

or just get an actual shield to counter those stupid op arrows, like just any old object lying around instead of standing there being shot

Henry was the driving force of the show. I just don’t care for season 4 anymore. I’ll probably try it just to see how Liam does but if it continues going downhill from there I don’t see the point.

Netflix portrayal of Cahir is a travesty. Oh, well. We have the books and Baptism of Fire is probably my favorite of the books with Geralt Hensa going on an adventure together.
