Funny to blame the artists. LB, RHCP, Rage and Matalica have played tens of thousands of shows before and after Woodstock 99. While yes, people commonly sustain injuries in any pit, I was accidentally punched in the face at a Springsteen concert for heaven sakes, these bands haven't had riots at their previous or subsequent concerts. If LB made teens riot, it would stand to reason that all of their concerts would have been riots. On the other hand, Mike Lang totally blew Woodstock 69 and 99. If you provided the same lack of security, trash cans, bathrooms, lack of water, a riot would have broken out if the festival acts were Debbie Boon, the Eagles and Air Supply.

What a mess. It will be good if no one ever conceives another "tribute" to Woodstock 1969. The promoters, the fans and the bands simple aren't there to recreate it. "Woodstock 99" was the stake in the heart of all mega-concerts - because it forgot all about the "peace, love and music" theme to pursue profit and allow rage to do its thing, unchecked. Should join the hall of concert shame along with Altamont and the Who concert in Cincinnati. Sad.

Shouldn’t there be a formula of the number of attendees, with the length of time being used should generate the number gallons of water required to keep the crowd from having any issues>. Water should be free to the crowd. the formula should also generate the minimum number of port-a-potties and sanitation trucks required to keep up. Obviously whatever estimates they used were not even close to what they should have been. The water sales could have covered the additional requirements from preventing a riot.

This years slam dunk at leeds UK was terrible but not as bad as this, it was more to do with the organisers moving the location of the car parks right before the festival and there was only one exit from the location as well so at the end everyone was piling through one single exit and it doesnt help that slam dunk sold more tickets than they would usually do. Food and drinks prices were also outrageous. They literally taped over the original prices and put higher prices on them. But one good thing was the music i pretty much just stuck around the dickies stage just so i could see my favourite bamd (the offspring) put on a hell of a show (in a good way) it was my first time seeing them so it was pretty special. Other music was great as well like before the festival i didn't really listen to anyone but the offspring but during the festival i was very much impressed by Bowling For Soup and now i can't stop listening to their music. Other than the music being good, it was not really a pleasant first slam dunk for me.

You had all those people squished like sardines in a can. Im surprised there wasnt more deaths. Cant blame the musicians, that was a security failure and the organizers. There are other factors/conspiracies about this event thats been put online and is so disturbing. It's not necessarily the band placements that are at fault here, I think it's fair to say they ratcheted up the tension, but the terrible venue (a concrete airstrip at the height of summer), price gouging, and poor amenities pushed things over the edge for Woodstock 99.

Music at the time was just angry as hell. If you listen to Alanis Morrisette, even she's angry haha. It's annoying when people solely blame Fred Durst. You didn't even say Limp Bizkit. The whole lineup and curation didn't make any sense. It was more than Limp Bizkit. It was just about limited resources in food, water security, restrooms, etc. The falls on the two guys who brought Woodstock and everyone on staff who set up the whole thing. They knew the music better and should've refrained from putting on certain acts on the same day or back to back with each other. They keep trying to blame one person or band but they were doing what they're supposed to do. No one ever really blames people on staff, but they should get more heat. Don't blame Fred Durst cause you won't admit that you loved Limp Bizkit! With all that being said... I wish I was there to experience the mayhem hahaha

Keep it out of Colorado please. The promoters would probably ruin it with greed and it'd turn into another shit show. Skip all of that nonsense and see a concert at Redrocks.
