Honestly, nobody cared that she was mean. People knew that for years. Oprah knew that. That's why could never catch the 2 in the same room. Now when covid hit. Her ratings dropped. Because we all watch movies and binged actual TV shows. And when people came back, they questioned why, and drama brings views. Then, the drama got too heavy on one side, and the fake apologies weren't stopping the loss in viewership.

Those situations are different, Covid is an outside force, while writers strike is slightly more of a choice. Ellen also got in trouble for pressuring guests and bad work environment. That being said I don’t watch either of them now despite the fact I used to.

my grandma always watched this show, so i would catch it from time to time. i remember one time after it had been on for several years, and i hadn't seen it in awhile. she was doing her dancing thing at the beginning, and it was so obvious she hated it. it lasted barely any time at all, and she looked like she was being tortured.
