Nokia Deepfield’s “The World at Home” series continues with a session focused on online gaming, delivered as live session on LinkedIn on February 11, 2021.
In this session, our experts took a deeper dive into the world of online and cloud gaming.
Online gaming is huge - some even say, ‘gaming is the new streaming’. We saw online gaming traffic increasing between 100% and 150% in many service provider networks during the pandemic. As a percentage of overall traffic, its share has more than doubled, making online gaming one of the most important traffic types. New game releases cause significant traffic spikes, and, unlike video streaming, online gaming takes place at any time during the day - sometimes all day long.
But this is just the beginning. With online and cloud gaming taking off and Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality entering the world of gaming, there are many open questions for service providers.
What do service providers need to know? More importantly, what can they do to make the gaming experience better for their customers and capitalize on this opportunity?
Watch our experts answer these - and a few additional questions.
