A total of 110 'crazy' golfers turned out to tackle the windmill, watermill as well as negotiate the bends, twists, and ramps on the traditional seaside course at Hastings Adventure Golf.
The 17th edition of the tournament saw the players compete over six qualifying rounds on the 18-hole course before the cut was made and the top 18 players went on to contest the final round. Conditions for the latter were kinder to the field since the first day’s stormy conditions had subsided.
Amongst the obstacles on the World Championship course was a classic Windmill, a waterwheel, an obelisk, a lighthouse and various ramps and bunkers. This year for the first time some of the obstacles such as the windmill had been modified so players could not putt around the sides, so in effect, these were made much harder.
In the end, it’s was a professional fencing instructor from Canterbury in Kent, South- East England, Marc Chapman who outputted the others over the last holes of the tournament.
He proved he was the dominant force and took the victory. Aside from obvious bragging rights, he also collects a rather respectable £1,000.00 in prize money for his efforts.
He finished the tournament with a final round of 33, two clear of runner-up Adam Kelly.
These are some of the rushes from the day.
