Not necessarily in the Malthusian sense where we'll all literally run out of space and food and then starve to death or kill each other, but it is overpopulated in terms of emissions and resource consumption, in the sense that we can't live the lifestyles that we currently have with the numbers that we currently have, and in the sense that reducing birth rates is bar none the most effective way to reduce a society's emissions and resource consumption.

A lot of this is overblown. Yes, "Sperm counts have dropped by 50%" but overall male fertility hasn't because even by knocking off 50% you're still far, far above the threshold where you'd even begin to encounter reproductive difficulties. This is concerning in its own because if there's something in our environment that's messing with our hormones then that's going to have significant knock-on effects in terms of your overall health, but predictions that this will result in the destruction of the human species or a collapse in birth rates are not substantiated.

Am I misunderstanding or was the story logic: Bad stuff is bad. No known connection to X so we need more research of X. X was pollution but it could be any political issue; abortion, veganism, homosexuallity, gunuse. I think it might be "sending me money" and we should research that angle more.

1. That graph showing he decline of sperm was very misleading if you look at the y axis... to me it seemed like the numbers were closer together to make it appear like there was a bigger effect. 2. There needs to be more studies done... we can't simply say "the entire human race" if only a portion of the world is showing these patterns in sperm decrease. 3. In depth studies with plastics and pollutants should be done with regards to sperm and hormones to make a district conclusion and to better our understanding of how it messes with the human body.

Somehow I don't think that climate change has much to do with it. Humanity lives in many climates and has weathered many climate changes including industrial revolutions with more pollution than today. Additionally as we are mammals it would be worth checking other mammal sperm levels as additional evidence before making any conclusions. I personally would be more inclined to think it has more to do with diets and lifestyle changes i.e. significant increases of refined sugar and soy in diets, men going to war less frequently than in past millennia, or inactive lifestyles

It's possible that it's caused by interaction with so many more people. Evolution wise, we have never been in so many numbers. Perhaps this excess interaction triggers something in our brains that tells the testicles to produce less sperm as a way to naturally curbing the population beyond a certain point. I don't know where all the tests are from, but if other countries with high population density like India or Japan show similar results despite being less polluted, that would support this hypothesis. If this is the case, is it really a problem at all if our brains are wired to do it? Is it an evolutionary advantage to spread out faster without straining the central population? Could this be linked to the drastic decrease in child births in the US and possibly other countries? (I don't know if it's happening in other countries.)
@cesarzumaeta

Only part of the story. NeuroEducation has found that neurogenesis is affected by emotional and psicological factors and that elders may increase neurogenesis when motivated and so accelerate learning. This means that they body un someway reacts to people needs, and is no secret that in western cultures men are increasingly posponing having kids or simply discarding the idea. I'm china, until recently, families could only have one child and this may have affected expectation. This trend though in non western countries.
@EliasAnto

It's probably more so to do with the artificial materials we use in our everyday lives. Pollution and toxins in the air were much worse pre-1980s so we could have seen a different trend if it was pollution.
