Her death is the saddest death ever for me on a novel. What a character he created. Hands down to sir Ray. From Sri Lanka.

Small correction. The character was created by Bibhubitbhushan Bandapadhyay, the writer of the novel. But yes, Satyajit Ray made one perfect adaptation.

This scene is from the trilogy by Satyajit Ray. This excerpt is from the last movie of the trilogy - Apur Sansar..that translates to the world of Apu. Apu is a broken young man living in Kolkata. He don't have a job. He give private tutions to meet the ends. Here Apu is asking the lady - don't you regret of getting married to me? The lady replies- why should I feel so? Apu replies - Don't you think you deserve a better life. The lady (sarcastically) - yes, sometimes I think it would be good if I could get myself free from this daily household chores. (If she had a domestic helper). Apu took this seriously and was going out to find more tutions so that they can afford a domestic helper. His wife call him back and says if you get more tutions then I'll have to go back to my parent's home since you won't be having any time for me. And only then I'll regret and feel bad that my husband isn't having time for me. She even insists him on leaving few of the tutions he has now so that they can spend more time together.
