Have you see the Arm Alarm to allow you to swing like Ben Hogan? kzitem.info/news/bejne/xYts3XV3cpahdXo

The problem was that I was swinging like a "Mad Man"! Either slicing, or a dead pull left. I took a lesson a few years ago, and the pro had me hit my driver at roughly 25% of what I normally swing. Then 35%, and so on till I was swinging at about 80%. He said 80% is as fast as I should ever swing with ANY club. Result was finding the fairway. Nothing short of a spiritual awakening! 😉 I enjoyed your video and will take your tip to the range soon! All the best...Mark

I think the concept here is worth a try, but the smother hook I struggle with seems to come from my shoulders getting too flat (coupled with a shift forward). What do you think about the shoulder turn being too flat? Will you be OK as long as you don't slide forward, or will this promote that smother hook/left pull that plagues my driver game?

how does a flatter swing translate to fairways/hybrids as I tend to top them at times (with flatter swing) and when I try to release I tend to hook....

Hey Steve.... I wonder if I'm doing Eureka naturally with my driver. I tried standing closed, closed grip etc... but kept hooking. I'm a golf history buff...and noticed in the early days of golf, it looked like a lot of pros stood open with the driver. When I do this and make sure my head and body are behind the ball (playing it far forward enough), I seem to strike it well. Here's my preshot routine. ... Put the club behind the ball and make sure straight line from left shoulder to clubhead. When I do this and put my feet in position, it feels like I am standing open. But when I put a club across my hips and my heels, I apparently had my body aligned as train tracks.. ie. parallel to the target line. As long as I stayed behind the ball I hit it pretty well. The most difficult part is ball position....how far forward do I play it so my clubhead closes back to square. Your thoughts? Am I doing Eureka without realizing it?

For me it’s the opposite problem, coming too much from the inside. The feel for me to hit dead straight is to come way over the top. Fixes my hook.

That is a great tip Steve. It makes me think that every club in the bag should stay on it's own slightly adjusted swing plane. the lower the number, the lower the plane, would you agree??

That's why the cobra one length seems to work for folks. Driver plane and seven iron plane except for putter.

Great question. Sometimes this happens to me. It's tough to close that face. When I try to close it, I hit it way left.
@user_1664

@@DaGolfViking The thing is your not supposed to close the face your supposed to release through the ball . Make a point of waggling before a shot , by that i mean cocking and un cocking the wrists at the point where your left and right arm are fully extended , you can then learn how to either release or hold off through your impact area ( just past the low point) a hold off will fade , a release at impact will be fairly straight and just after should draw . Play with release and alignment (open stance closed stance ) and always always pick a target . Hitting driver hard is the fun just let it go 😮

Tried this but hit the ground behind the ball a few times. When I connected it was excellent. How do I avoid hitting the ground?
@kingoneeyed3433
Жыл бұрын
Just hover the club at address. If you let the club rest on the ground at address the muscle tension in the arms are not in the ready position during the swing which causes early grounding so always hover the club.
@stevejohnstongolf

I hardly ever practice with the driver as I always thought it was the easiest club to hit, The lightest club and goes the furthest, never had a problem with it, Never had a slice just a draw, had a hook but sorted that out, n vet had any lessons as much more satisfaction in doing it one’s self, Just to add I won plenty of competitions at two different golf clubs! My also add, I’ve won trophies at three different sports!

I have no idea what you mean by flat. I’ve heard others say this too, but I see nothing flat in a golf swing or in what you just did. I’m missing something. Also, baseball swings ruin golf swings and vice a versa or so an old saying goes.
