And not one mention that the chiming complication is in the shape of a bird, with the red pointer being the beak.

I preordered one on the tan leather strap this morning. I've always respected what CW does but they have yet to make a watch that made my part with my money...until now. I was actually going to buy a different watch this weekend but this CW has now consumed those funds and I couldn't be more excited. I can't remember the last time I was this excited about a watch, at any price. Well done CW, I hope you continue down this path of innovative and value driven design.

@@rodsalvador3608 Well, your wish is their command - they're scheduling the newest builds in the next few weeks, hopefully ready for February! I would've loved that rich azure blue example in this vid but they've added 4 new colours instead. I've ordered the nero for a similar accentuation of design elements on the dark background, coupled with the titanium bracelet; although the cielo blue is gorgeous too. Fantastic value at only £3305. I absolutely love this watch.

Something you may not have known, since you mentioned it - the MeisterSinger Bell Hora was actually created by Christopher Ward! CW produces most of Meistersinger’s watches. In many ways, the Bell Hora was CW’s first basic attempt at a striking hour complication. The Bel Canto takes the concept and moves things around until it has a high horology appearance - an oversimplification of a highly complex and commendable effort from them. Love this piece, and I hope to pick up a cielo version soon

Amazing design and value. Understandable it sold out near instantly. I'm pretty sure we can expect them to further develop this and make at least another one in the future... Perhaps based on their own in-house movement, as you had said and are hoping for. Fully in-house. Hmm... Now if they did that and could also find a way to combine this with their moonglow basically, a moonphase version of this watch... Oh, snap!? That would be the shiehtz..in the best meaning of that phrase.

A great watch indeed. I am curious how the rest of the watch Media will react (of course w&w stays the reference!). This is really exiting watch, but as allways it's impossible to please everyone. To me the fun in mechanical watch is to see it's heartbeat, so exposed balance or secondhand would have been nice. Then it would've been nice if you could chime it on command, not like a repeater, that's way too compicated, but just once with a button. I really hope this gets popularity and CW will make this also in the future. They have carved a special place for them in the horological field.

You make no allusion to the concept the dial-side part of this complication is modelled on a bird. On one end the hammer is the bird's tail and at the other end, the red 'on/off' indicator is its beak. Quite charming.

Good idea, not for me though. Firstly there is no moving indicator that the watch is running (like at least part of the balance visible), secondly the base movement already has a short power reserve. Adding this complicated module that draws more power than usually will shorten it even more. I get the cost cutting, yet in the end I would pay a bit more to have these issues addressed

@thomasharrick

There's no seconds hand because it would crowd the smaller dial. Also, a sapphire glass back would absorb the chime sound and dampen it. It had to be titanium to allow the chime to vibrate.

I own five Christopher Ward watches, the first purchased well over a decade ago and the most recent only a few months back. Obviously, I'm a fan. And the technical achievement of the C1 Bel Canto can't be denied. Having said that, however, I have to admit that it looks like a grinning cyclops. And once I saw that, I couldn't unsee it. In short, the looks are (imo) simply hideous. As usual I wish CW the best with their latest product but I won't be a customer for this particular watch.

Long time fan of Christopher Ward. I own five CW watches, the oldest of which (a C8 pilot watch) is about 12 years old, never serviced, and accurate to within 1-2 seconds every 24 hours. The four other CW timepieces I own are similarly accurate and valued. Unfortunately, while I admire the ingenuity of the C1 Bel Canto design, I can't avoid the impression that it looks like a grinning cyclops. To me, at least, it's among the ugliest watches I[ve ever seen.

Retail markup. As someone who's worked in the business for a while, retailers usually require somewhere around a 50% markup margin for their services. CHWard doesn't need to do that. Also their whole focus is quality, affordable watches - not as much marketing spend on sports games, celebrity sponsorships, etc. Worth noting is that their mechanism is significantly less complex than Minute Repeater, but certainly much MUCH more value than other $300k Minute Repeater watches.
