The World's Oldest Hunting Weapon
The Atlatl (spear-thrower) is one of the world's oldest technical hunting tools, used for throwing the spear or dart farther, more powerfully and with greater accuracy than when thrown by hand. Because of its mechanical design, it is known for effectively hunting mega-fauna like mammoths and mastodons. It is the predecessor to the bow and arrow.
There are two working components: the Dart and the Atlatl. The dart, on average, can vary between 5 to 7 feet long and usually made from any light-weight straight material; river cane or sotol stalks for example. The projectile point varies in different material makes: wood, bone, stone, metal and also varies in shape and sizes.
I hope you enjoyed this video and learned from it as well.
