The joke is we say keep Fort Pierce scary. We know about the beautiful historical district, blue beaches and downtown entertainment. Karen's and snobs are not welcome. I moved to the Ft Pierce area in 1996 and have been here since. Overall is a nice quiet area, of course nowhere is perfect. My wife was born and raised here. People's biggest complaints is there isn't much to do here, but it's small town FL and it's not that far of a drive to places like West Palm Beach or Orlando.

Ha! A clickbait title. Many businesses moved in about 7-8 years ago because they were SURE that the gentrification movement was about to hit Fort Pierce HARD. It didn't and a lot of them have had to move out in the past couple years. They were just a tiny bit ahead of the game. Fort Pierce has a real, beautiful downtown and lots of history. Developers keep threatening us with new luxury apartments and shopping plazas. All the working-class people will get priced out. New York City stopped being interesting when no working stiff could afford rent, and it will be the same here. Glad I own my place but damn. Also, you should know that the problems here come out only at night. It's 100% safe in the day. If you live here and aren't on the corner at midnight, you'll be fine.

They also have an event every first Friday of the month and they have a farmers market every weekend. Go over the bridge and you’ll find beaches, hotels and restaurants right on the water. There are upscale neighborhoods and gated communities throughout the city. I live in one. By the way, I see the city as a "best kept secret ". I have met lots of people as well as new neighbors who are snatching up property here and driving to work every day to go as far as Miami. Others have relocated from northern states. Also, lots of commercial businesses building all around us. You didn't show any of that. But thanks for your effort.

Lincoln Park Academy one of the best schools in Florida is located in Fort Pierce. Also the author Zora Neal Hurston lived in Fort Pierce as well. More people need to visit Fort Pierce to get a more realistc opinion of the city. There's good and bad parts like in any other city has. It's probably a more affordable option than other beach towns or even neighboring Port St. Lucie. The downtown area of Fort Pierce actually looks quite nice.

I hate this town with a burning passion it’s dangerous and turns into the walking dead at night , beach area is ofc beautiful but even that ain’t safe at night anymore and it never was and never will be w how they are adding the brightline train to stop here. Truly fort pierce and Port Saint Lucie are both miserable expensive cities to live with no jobs to pay for how much it cost to live Absolutely hate it here 😞

Man you have to go back and do a video of the true Fort Pierce. Yeah the lower income areas arent really bad at all. Theres so much to the city. Life on the islands and all the great places to get something to eat. Gotta try the local legend known as Dixe Cream Donuts on Orange ave. I love the Fort. Its a place i hold dear to heart. Its my second home outside of Nashville Tennessee.

Who are these people that have no expertise in any city and rate Fort Pierce as if they are experts! People who say the North side of Fort Pierce is telling half truths and don't necessarily live or have lived on the N side of Fort Pierce. I grew up here and my whole family still lives here on the N side. We have never gotten shot or robbed and everyone one of us own our homes. If you say N Fort Pierce is bad it is because if you on drugs or looking for drugs in the wee hours of the morning you find what you are looking for as in any city! Be honest it seems as if someone is paying these people to put this out! People that don't even live here!!! SUSPECT!😮

Fort Pierce is not rated one of the worst cities in FL because of it's looks, which is the result of a fairly recent "facelift". Firstly, is a town established in 1901 (that's why you see so many buildings that are OLD) but hasn't grown at the same pace with Florida's population increase. True, local government has worked very hard the past 30 years to revive it: you wouldn't have had the same impression about Fort Pierce had you driven those streets in 1990 - it was terrible (streets full of potholes, unkept yards, façades that hadn't been painted in decades, old building with no roofs...). Since the mid-90s there have been "Redevelopment" programs that paid for the buildings you saw downtown (that court house is only about 15 years old, as well as several neighboring buildings that are not much older, like the library and the Public Defender's building), as for programs designed to incentivise (as in giving out grants $$) homeowners to maintain their front yards and repaint their homes (or otherwise get fined by Code Enforcement). You can't determine how good or bad a town is by just driving by for a couple of hours. What makes Fort Pierce one of the worst places to live is the violent crimes rate, the difficulty to find decent paying jobs compared to the cost of living, among other factors. I couldn't make out if you went down the Lincoln Park area, near the high school; it looks like you passed pretty close. There are frequent drive-by shootings around there (Gangs). 🤷🏽♀️ That said, did you known Zora Neale Hurston chose to live her lasts years in Fort Pierce and wouldn't have had it any other way? I noticed you drove down the very dangerous Avenue D because I saw you went around the traffic circle that has the monument put up to honor the "Highwaymen" painters, whom mostly hung out at a shop nearby in the 50s. There are also a couple of minor attractions for people into "quaint" small town lifestyle but they certainly cannot compete with the kind of entertainment Miami, Fort Lauderdale or Orlando offer and if you're looking for a spring break or summer vacation, the beaches are just meh compared to the west coast.
