So glad you enjoyed the video. The heating mats I use are vivosun. They are on Amazon. And I think you are asking about lighting for starting seeds. I’ll link my video that shows you exactly what I use kzitem.info/news/bejne/02qj161rjniijKQsi=Fn-Kwa_NzpLJ2fLs

I am amazed by how much you have learned so fast. How did you learn how to nourish your food and soil so fast? I grow my family’s food also but it has been quite a journey to success

When we moved to our property in July of 2021, it was too late to garden that year so we worked on building our garden area and I took all my extra time and read books and watched videos. It was all consuming. I tried to mimic what others were doing and when it worked, I kept doing those things and when it didn’t, I changed those things up. I also learned how to can and preserve food by buying in bulk from local produce stands so that I would have that basic knowledge when I started having my own produce. I was very fear motivated because of the craziness in the world so that helped to keep me going:)

Totally get what you are saying. I started my garden about the same time and I plan on selling my produce. Problem is, I don't eat the majority of what I grow. I don't eat bell peppers, tomatoes, onions ... I am on the carnivore diet and never really liked those types of vegetables. I like cold crops and alas, I live in zone 9b. I fear canning and am finding it is hard to grow for one person.

Can you grow food for chickens instead? You can feed your chickens, and still scratch the garden itch.

What really led me to do this was the pandemic. I was in such fear of what was happening in the world and I feared that we wouldn’t be able to find food at the grocery store. That may sound crazy, but that is really how I felt. I panicked…..and here we are😅

@MorganHillFarms I got that from your videos, what I'm asking is how did you learn what you know about growing? And who if anyone inspired you to give it a go, I'm assuming in your previous life you were not in a position to be growing food? Or were you? Just on a smaller scale.

I want to do this so bad but I don't have the land or money to do this...I have no support from my husband ...he's even in another state and has no interest moving to where I am. That's a whole different story though. I need help to do this as I can't do this on my own.

You are doing such an incredible job growing an enormous garden to feed your family!! Gardening to feed one's family gives us total respect for farmers and all that they do. It's mind blowing to me how anyone grows huge crops - between the crazy weather, pest pressure and the sheer work it takes to do it day after day. ❤

With the knowledge you have, it is amazing to know you have been gardening for just a few years! I am so proud of you!! I have been gardening all my life, and I just turned 67. I pray that more young people watch you and learn they can do it, too! Sometimes it's easier for the younger people to learn from younger teachers. You just keep it up, girl, and you will never have regrets.

You guys are doing a fabulous job. If more people got it there would be less concern for rising costs and how people will react to that. Stay strong. It’s a lot of work. PS. It’s a big investment but consider a freeze dryer. They’re a wonderful preservation tool.

You’re such an incredible lady. This is only my second year seriously growing. And my family thinks I am crazy. I get the eye rolls as well, how did you learn to preserve all you do? And the fact that you grew lemons is amazing. Wish I could do that! God bless.

I learned how to can from watching videos. After a little bit of time, it becomes super comfortable to pressure can and waterbath. I honestly think that pressure canning is so much easier than waterbacth canning. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that gets eye rolls:). The lemon tree is a Meyer's Lemon. I use Jobe's fertilizer spikes for citrus that I stick in the soil. Honestly, I really have to give the credit to God. I really just put a seed in the ground and He is the one that has blessed us with this abundance!

It is great what you are doing for your family. But not every family can just sell there home and buy 23 acres of land and start planting. If I had the money to do that I would do something smaller.

I love this video, thank you for sharing. It can definitely be over whelming to want to grow most of your family’s food, but it is definitely my goal as well. I also think it is so special to share these skills with our children and learn together. What a wonderful legacy and inheritance we get to give them.

I laughed when you said woman in a cotton dress. I walked in this evening soaking wet and my hair a mess from working out in the garden and milking the goats. We have a kitchen garden by the house and we have a 2.5 acre garden. It’s work.
@MorganHillFarms

I know exactly what that’s like. Stumbling up to the house with buckets of produce because you can’t stand the heat anymore. 2.5 acres is massive!
