What do you think of how I've incorporated the Z-pattern into the ordination? Do you think about how your audience interacts with your visuals when you create them?

I love what you did with the title. Is it common to do so, though? I get the impression that there should not be a lengthy title; it should be in the figure caption instead.

I think it would be better for a figure in a presentation. That being said, the current state of figures in papers is pretty horrendous. I'm a fan of declarative titles that tell the reader what they should be seeing in the data. I really have little use for titles that don't help the reader.

@@Riffomonas I concur. I don't like the experience of having to go back and forth between the figure caption and the panel to find out which is which.

Sorry I’m not sure what you mean by “level”. You can use any plotting symbol you want

Thanks! For sure, I will use the Z-pattern for my slices presentations and poster. Considering the advantege of been out of paper format, you also may flip (positive-negative) the axes and the ellipsis will follow the message delivered in the tittle.

Edward Tufte would be happy with this; along with Stephen Few, and myself.

@@Riffomonas I thought as much. Pre-attentive attributes is a term infrequently heard, in fact here's a histogram to prove it! I have all his books and have been two a Few of his workshops.
