"Gone Away", "Wash It All Away", "The Tragic Truth", "When The Seasons Change", "The Bleeding", and "The Darkness Settles In" are all songs that showcase the band's abilities and struggles. If you're someone who can handle a song written about being in an abusive household, the song "Remember Everything" is a must. FFDP writes music with the intention of reaching into your chest and squeezing your heart. I've met Ivan Moody, the lead singer, a couple of times and he's always been the most honest and sincere guy. The entire band are great guys and have hearts the size of cities. As a Veteran who chewed the sand of both Iraq and Afghanistan, their song "Got Your Six" is, by far, my favorite. I've lost so many of my buddies to their own hand. The struggle is real. If I'm lucky, I'll get to see them all again someday.

First of all, thank you for your service. Thought of enlisting myself. Anyway I love their music. They don’t pull any punches and tells stories of what it’s like to be a soldier. Not just because they’re highly trained badasses, but it shines a light of how society views them. How society also shines a light of hypocrisy. We show the American soldier as heroes, but to the government there just tools. Seen as “expendable” which is morally unacceptable. They talk about stolen valor in ( fake) and the struggles of morality being a soldier, being forced to make decisions that chip away at their souls. Even question themselves as people after all of the things that they done or sacrificed for their country. It’s fucked up, but to have determination to live despite the odds by giving a middle finger the haters saying “I’m a soldier, I fought and suffered.I have killed and done what I had to keep me and my men breathing under orders given to me. I was on the front lines and had to bury my brothers/ sisters who fought along side me for your right to speak and live free. Im a little fucked up sure but I made my path and choices ultimately and I’m going to live with them. This is who I am. If you don’t like it then you can leave snowflakes.” Over all in my opinion it’s bravery incarnate. Something I heavily respect. I know partially, because Ivan was a Marine himself if I recall so he knows how it is.

Crying in that moment shows you have a soul, young lady. Never apologize for that. I fought in war three times, the guys I was embedded with searched for HVTs. I was blown up by a car bomb. I stayed in service even after that. I don't regret it one bit, I fought for my country. Even though I suffer with PTSD, TBI, nerve damage and a whole host of other maladies. I have never been more alone than I am now, even though I have a family, and I live with them.

First, absolutely stoic by nature here...with decades of direct experience both in-uniform and out. One result in me now is a dramatic shift to an ease-with-no-embarrasment-at-all place where I embrace and willingly display my emotions without masking. I have, over the years, had a very raw and direct rant as my usual reaction to this vid. All I will say today is this: if WE won't work as hard to protect and save our brothers and sisters off the battlefield as we did on it, then WE have failed our comrades. Period. Full stop. STOP looking to others to take care of US. Sitting at home and whining does NOTHING. Step the FRAK up and make the right things happen. Or shut the frak up. Thank you for sharing a reaction. How real it was will be demonstrated by action... Cheers rl 🤘👹🤘

Honestly, there are only two kinds of human beings that can watch this without experiencing sadness, anger, frustration, and guilt. One is the Psychopath, the other I call the Manikin. BOTH are selfish, narcissistic, disconnected people whom society needs to help as much as the veterans fighting our wars and conflicts. Neither should be OK with their own personal reaction, or the lack thereof. Knowing many who have died, many continuing to fight, and many who will do it again without hesitation, I thank them all for their sacrifice, no matter how great or small it may be. It is said that war changes a man, but in reality, it changes everyone. Never give up, Never surrender, and never feel lesser for asking for help. We all need it. USMC. I see you, devil dogs...

Army Combat Veteran here, I say Combat Veteran because anyone can be a Veteran all you have to do is sign up. I was an 11 Bravo or Army Infantry and I had the luxury to fight in Iraq from 2004-2005. Wasn't a good time to be there because that was when the insurgency started and when they first started introducing IED's. I hate to say that I am still "Hard" or "cold," but you had to be to fight in a war. Still this song is one of the few things that will make me tear up, because I know there are brothers in arms out there that have it worse than I do.

What kills me always is 2 things. The cop that has same tattoo, being a military one , unruffled the vet and gave him much respect. Second, when the black vet tells the other one look at me, u saved my life. Powerful. Very intense bonds are made in the military. All are family to each other. It's o.k. for a vet to poke fun at another branch of service. But not a civilian. It's like a stranger picking on ur cousin. Ur allowed, no one else. Just my thoughts.

We all did what we had to. Some of us were more exposed to the critical violence of everyday than most soldiers. The real statistics are closer to 35-40 a day because certain deaths are not considered "suicide". Accidental overdose isn't counted, not certain other forms of death. I lost 11 brothers duringy 39 months deployed and have lost at least 2 dozen to their own demons. And the VA isn't really there to help us because it only costs the government money. They deny a large majority of claims simply because it's going to cost tou h money.

God as a woman refers to his wife, girlfriend, mother, sister and they don't understand why he is changed or the things he has done. He sees himself in the mirror as the devil and he doesn't understand why people hate him because of things we asked him to do and he can't tell if they are right or wrong. The last thing the team leader said when he put his buddy into the Humvee was "It's O.K." The black dude at the end was saying "Bill, Bill, it's me Jacoby. You saved my life brother. It's O.K. it's O.K." I'm a Viet Nam vet and we were treated like shit when we came home, called murders and baby killers. Our government wanted to sweep us under the rug like we didn't even exist.

My grandfather was a WWII and Korea vet. He never talked about it, but I could always see the pain and grief in his eyes, even as a small child. He would do this thing where he would be talking about something (anything) and in the middle would just stop and stare, then resume. It was several years after he passed that my father told me it was his memories flooding in and consuming him. I pray for a day when this world doesn't require people to solve differences by killing mass amounts of others.
