It’s actually kind of sad, George was deaf, blind and so mentally unwell that he didn’t even register that his beloved wife had died. Their whole marriage was so much more tragic in real life, because they had about two decades of incredibly happy marriage before he began to slip into his mental health issues. The first notable sign that something was wrong was that he began speaking salaciously to a lady of the court; he had previously been so privately and publicly devoted to Charlotte that he refused to take a mistress, which was the done thing at the time. I can’t imagine what the situation was like for her.

Well, it certainly reflects that he was a flawed man. He was very devoted to his wife and family oriented, almost unheard of back then for someone his status. He was a kind and simple soul who unfortunately suffered a lot in his lifetime, physically and emotionally. He was also a colonialist and helped cause more suffering of the native Americans. He believed wholeheartedly that the colonies were the property of the United Kingdom, refused to give them up. He also wanted to privatize and hoard tons of farm land in the UK exclusively to the rich (much of that land had been in people's families for generations). He was very much like many of us, having a grayscale personality rather than black and white, or simply being "good" or "bad"

Technically it wasn't the princesses' faults they never got married. Their fathers didn't want to marry them off because he didn't want them to end up miserable in their marriages. They were the apples of his eyes. Unlike most women of the age, they either died unmarried or married in their thirties at the earliest. And the sons really hated their. The eldest George consummated his marriage and never saw his wife again. He also banned her from his coronation. The throd son gave us the future Queen Victoria. It was the younger children who were more mellow while the first four were terrors.

Shonda was not going for historical accuracy. She was going for entertainment. If they were going for historical accuracy, then they would have acknowledged that the ancestor Charlotte was based on was most likely Amzigh (Berber) and not sub-Saharan African. If we were doing historical accuracy, Queen Charlotte would look like Loreen. Shonda is doing entertainment from her perspective.

Im intrigued by Charlotte keeping it kind of cool when her granddaughter died. The series actually got some if it right. It was actually a disaster. she died in childbirth. What couldve been great (and massively history-changing), was the worst case scenario. Prince Regent George (George IV) was never touching his wife again (they were a bit old to try again anyway) and his brothers didnt want to be married (they had mistresses but then again so did Prince Regent George!) and his sisters were indeed aging and not too fertile. Had the princess and her baby survived.... there'd have been no Queen Victoria, and since she was married to the Crown Prince of Belgium, Belgium and the UK wouldve eventually had one King! Golda OWNS the scene at 1:55 where she chastises all of them at once for this and then at 3:14 😂
