This is such an amazing video. Growing up transgender in the movement left me feeling that my only option was to leave in order to be fully myself, especially with how the binary is constantly being reinforced. I really appreciate how thoughtful and eloquent Govinda was in explaining these issues and it gave me hope that change will happen one day. Thank you for having this conversation, it really touched my heart and I hope it reaches many many devotees hearts as well 💜

Thank you so much for making this episode! In my personal experience, I have being denied of service because of my gender identity and it is really painful. You spoke about how there is no trans devotee comunity and I think that's because of the violence we experience. I can think of at least five trans devotees in my area that had to grow apart from the temples and devotee association to prevent violent situations happening to them. We are a lot of queer devotees, we are just invisible to stay safe. And that is a big issue because that makes us grow apart from Krisna consciousness. The temples are, sadly, not a spiritual relief for everyone. Thanks again for this episode, thanks for reading.

It's unfortunate that we've created temple environments where people feel like they can't be themselves. The temple is supposed to be the one place in the world where you can come in front of Krishna as a jiva and not think about the body. And yet, whether it's gender or race or cultural attire, we are SO aware of our bodily coverings in the temple. It's a disheartening incongruency that we must get rid of. Think about it, if we can't stand in front of the dieties as our true unadulterated self (and discourage people from doing so), what are we doing? I too appreciate how Govinda highlighted that Vedic civilization was inclusive. The more conservative heritage of ISKCON is actually is in large part due to Abrahamic imports

I'm trans. I live in the US State of Idaho. I'd love more information on the Krishna Consciousness movement.
