Geena Davis was in on the auditions for the Drifter character, and it came down to a handful of choices. When Brad Pitt walked in, Geena & Ridley and everyone involved went “that’s him!” A few years later Geena was on a plane and sat chatting next to George Clooney. He asked if she remembered him from the auditions. Geena did t remembered him, and said, you auditioned? T & L is a buddy movie, popular in those days, but with the POV from that of our best friends, who happen to be women. I love the Texas backstory for Louise. Even though we don't exactly find out what happened, its enough of a hint that the audience fills in the details. Ridley Scott, a great director, trusts his audience enough and doesn't ta;k down to us. Brilliant set up, plus we empathize with Louise and understand why she shot Harlan. Not all the men were complete assholes...Jimmy, and Slocum (Keitel) gave good performances as the good guys in their lives.

Hey guys great reaction & commentary. This movie is iconic. It has been mentioned in a lot of female buddy movies. I have watched Thelma & Louise a hamdful of times. That assault scene turns me into Louise everytime I see it. Boiling w/anger! That kiss @ the end was improvised. When Ridley Scott asked Susan Sarandon why she did it. She answered "Because I think that's what Louise would have done, right before the end."or something along those lines. It took Geena Davis completely by surprise.😄 Harvey Keitel shows another side of his acting by playing a compassionate, empathetic cop. Most of the roles I have seen him in he plays the tough guy. This is a phenomenal movie. Ok, Bonnie & Clyde were actual bank robbers. They have the Bonnie & Clyde car on exhibit as well as other paraphernalia @ Primm Valley Resort & Casino in Primm, Nevada. (CA/NV Stateline) I saw it a few years ago on my way back from Las Vegas to Southern California. It's funny because on that same trip, I visited The Mob Museum in Las Vegas.😊 U guys have watched BEETLEJUICE, right? Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin, Micheal Keaton & Winona Ryder r in that one. As far as Susan Sarandon films that I like. I try to watch THE HUNGER around Halloween every year. I love THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK, but now adays only seem to watch it whenever it's on TV. It also stars Michelle Pfieffer, Cher, & Jack Nicholson. THE CLIENT is a good crime thriller based on a John Grisham novel of the same name. I have also read the book. If u want a family drama, then there's STEPMOM which also stars Julia Roberts & Ed Harris. If u want a movie based on a true story there are two - LORENZO'S OIL & DEAD MAN WALKING. Well, that's it for me. See u on the next one.😊

"American Gangster" is a great Ridley Scott film with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. "Best Picture" worthy, IMO. Speaking of the Oscars, 1991was the last time that two actors were nominated for "lead" performances in the same movie. Davis and Sarandon were both nominated for "Best Actress" but lost to Jodie Foster in "Silence of the Lambs". Since then, a film with two lead performances tends to relegate one of them to the "Supporting" category, like Brad Pitt in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood".

Came here mostly to see you go "omg, it's a Ridley Scott film(!)" lol. The man truly knows his craft. While Geena and Susan were both nominated, it is still a travesty neither won the Oscar that year. It did win best screenplay, so... Harvey Keitel was in Ridley's first film as well, 1977's The Duellists, another phenomenal selection for a viewing on this channel 👍

It wasn’t a travesty that either won because Jodie Foster won for Silence of the Lambs

Your reactions are so much fun, I really enjoy them. You must react to these Susan Sarandon movies: Dead Man Walking (she won the Oscar), Bull Durham, The Client , Witches of Eastwick & White Palace (in that order), they're all great.

Wow! I was wondering how long it would take for a reaction host to record his/her response to this film. My long-anticipated presentation occurred tonight, but only after 33 years of delay! Well done TBR Schmitt and Wife!

More need to react to Thelma and Louise ❤

Thanks, TBR and Samantha! 🏜 The main thing to remember about BONNIE AND CLYDE (1967) is that it's based on real people, real events. THELMA & LOUISE are loosely based on a real friendship, but all the killing, destruction and other events shown are completely fictitious. 🔸 Since you asked for *Susan* *Sarandon* movie suggestions... THE HUNGER (1983), THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK (1987), BULL DURHAM (1988), LORENZO'S OIL (1992), LITTLE WOMEN (1994), DEAD MAN WALKING (1995) and STEPMOM (1998).

Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn in: “DEAD MAN WALKING “ great movie!! Your kind of movie!! Susan won an Oscar for this one! Based on a true story, a nun that goes into prisons and comforts prisoners on death row.. Can’t go wrong with Susan and Sean !!!!

This was the movie that made Brad Pitt a star.

geena davis had to choose between three male actors to play opposite her in a sex scene. Of course she chose the best-looking one, a young actor named brad. The rest is history.⚛

Yeah, we studied this one in film class in the mid-90s. Some interesting - and heated - discussions were had. May also want to check out Kalifornia (1993) for another Brad Pitt roadtrip...

3:22 Ridley Scott is famed for having strong, sympathetic female leads in his films. Sigourney Weaver in "Alien", Jodie Comer more recently in "The Last Duel" are two more obvious examples. T&L is his most openly 'feminist' work and an absolute classic. Defining him as an 'action movie' director does him a great disservice.
