Her son John did exist. His father took him away with him via ship because he knew that she would have him deleted if Justinian found out she had a son. When John's father was about to die, he told John the full story and all about his mother, Theodora. John decided to venture off to meet Theodora, his mother when he was 14 years old. Once he arrived he let it be known he is Theodora's son and had the guards go get her. Theodora came and saw John and was frightened about what would be thought of her if this information became widespread that her son did indeed exist and has returned. She then gave the instruction to her guards and slaves to delete John. For example, this video says at 10:01 that the couple had no children. Yes, no children together, but Theodora did. She was extremely promiscuous. It is interesting the narrative that is painted in this awful AI generated video. It is a bit worrying because most people either do not know or do not care to know and they will believe the nonsense that people and AI will create and put online.

The image of the hagia sophia you're showing has muslim minarets on it. The Byzantine empire was christian so no muslim accoutrements. The muslim mutilation of the building took place after the turkish conquest of Constantinople

Although almost all of the images are not of Byzantine-Roman culture, but the pictures are very beautiful. Can you tell me the source of the picture?

Hi, i tried my best! I generated all the images with Midjourney. But you have to give it the right prompts to make them decent. It is very hard to replicate the byzantine period

You have to use Midjourney then, they are A.I. made. I can help you if you want to learn how to create images this way

A good documentary with beautiful pictures, but................in the opening picture, the minarets should be erased! In the 6th century AD, when Theodora and Justinian lived, there were no minarets. The minarets, an islamic element, that we see today around Hagia Sophia, were added by the Ottomans nearly a millennium after the days of Theodora. Please, photoshop them away.

Colorful and imaginative history, unfortunately marred by bizarre opening scene and introduction. The Byzantine Empire "also known" as the Eastern Roman Empire? Try the other way around. The Romans never called themselves anything else but Roman. And this with visuals of Constantinople showing ... mosques? To start a narrative about the 6th century? Are you kidding?

I understand your point. By "also known" I was referring to people nowadays (we know the byzantine empire also as eastern roman empire). I know this is a historical artifact though. Also, the images are generated with Midjourney (artificial intelligence). I actually had to produce more than 100 images of Constantinoples but all of them had at least one minaret... I chose the best ones I got.

@@TheSyntheticSaga Appreciate your thoughtful response. This "byzantine" stuff gets my blood up, partly because I'm Greek, and for centuries Greeks called themselves Romans, right up to the 1821 Revolution, when "Hellenes" was revived.

You are greek? then I understand your reaction! I've had a deep bond with Greece and its history for many years... But it's a long story. I am italian by the way. Yeah, in the western part of Europe people such as the pope and many kings initiated a process to identify in themselves the true and only heirs of the romans... unfortunately. I suggest you read about the "donation of Constantine", you may find it interesting. Also, I believe the first to use the term byzantine referring to the remaining roman empire was a german historian.
