I'm Totally Here For Any Type Of #MAFS Review! Especially of this season. I'm glad you're starting with Eric and Virginia because their issues can be seen in normal couples and not just specific to a rushed relationship like MAFS.

Don't watch the show, but still love the analysis. If Virginia's attachment style is avoidance, what is Erik's? Wondering if his superiority complex is also just another face to insecurity. He overall attitude seems very much in line with how guys behave...it's cringe-y to think I have been/am/can be this way too. Our household is hooked on the 90-day franchises so I'd love to see Steph Anya's take on that hot mess.
@StephAnya
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave! It’s believed that most of us actually have a secure attachment which was surprising to me to learn. Based on the way that Erik talks about his family in such high regard, I would assume that his parents have probably been pretty available to him. I do believe that he experiences some insecurities as we all do. He’s spoken about comparing his self to his dad a lot whom he really admires. It’s lead him to feel depressed in the past. That may be the origins of his need to be the best or better if he ultimately will never see himself as good as his father. Just an idea! Believe it or not, I’ve never seen 90 Day fiancé but my family is obsessed! I need to catch up.
@davehan241
3 жыл бұрын
@@StephAnya Hmm, if he's trying to recreate his "perfect" family upbringing, then I can see how that drives his a behavior in these clips. The 90 Day franchise is like the Giving Tree...of entertaining human desperation. It feels like that show spawned an entire series of shows focusing on desperate: Americans, non-Americans, overweight people, pregnant underage teens, momma's boys, prisoners, etc. There won't be as many happy, healthy love connections, more like "Whew...thank god we're not that messed up!"

I find IRL relationships so much more challenging than I once found contrived "life situations". They are so much more complex and the stakes for interjecting possible fixes so much more encouraging that in my own quest to learn and apply knowledge to see others continue on their own path towards fulfilling their purpose makes life so much more interesting for me.

I can’t help but feel that Erik’s flaws coincide/connect to being in the military. Not condoning it- just as a female who works in Aviation the superiority thing and stubbornness is something that runs rampant and practically rewarded in the military aviation community. But with that in mind, if he can work on those issues this dude does have good husband material. Honestly Virginia as an individual should not have signed up for any kind of marriage. She’s not there yet.

Virginia could be a bit of a mess too? She drinks a lot and it seems to be beyond social. When she drinks and gets drunk, her head bobbles, like she can’t keep it steady? (If she would lay off the booze, her skin would probably clear up too.) He’s pretty bossy, but he’s older and needs someone more settled down, someone that doesn’t want to hang out and sleep over her guy friend’s houses. It’s as simple as that.

Erik is controlling, manipulative and he tries to control Virginia subtly so that he can remain comfortable & secur in the relationship while Virginia makes all the changes & remains uncomfortable for the sake of Erik. Virginia should not get attached to a person like Erik because Erik is controlling and insecure. Even if she has an unhealthy attachment style Erik is clearly controlling and they aren’t good for each other. Erik is an know it all as*hole & think he’s superior & better than Virginia in every category of her life & relationships. Btw Erik isn’t a good communicator. No consideration for Virginia’s views when every time he communicates his view & feelings it’s literally always his way or the highway “I’m done” said Erik countless times in every disagreement. Don’t see how he’s a good communicator when he only sees his own thoughts & views as valid but not the other person.

This sounds biased af, sis you straight bashed eric (not saying he was the best partner) while saying some bad stuff about virginia but right after you bashed her you instantly said something to back up what she did, as if you didnt bash her at all more like a compliment. You're saying you love that she stands up for her self but cant show that same energy when backing up her relationship, her OWN MARRIAGE that she signed up for, you said it your self that she would tell everyone else what she dont like in their marriage...... Like why dafuq cant you tell your mans that, the person who is in the marriage with you. Idgaf you tend to woman side because you know a "man" is gonna pay for whatever is gonna "help" them and they relationship so if you make it sound good for woman then you goinna get way more couples coming to your "therapy" you goofy yeah he said hes done if she did certain stuff if she "knew" it was such a bad relationship why didnt she leave after that first im done? Lemme guess cause she was thinking for the better of her relationship? This the same woman that thought she can still go partying while married........... You people is goofy as hell

Virginia surrounding herself with young single men as her best friends and acting like a potential pass around chick is a red flag like no other. The fact that you're not calling out that behaviour and also pretending like it's perfectly normal for a woman to have tons of male friends and for a man to accept that is crazy. It's the Dick in a glass case problem. Chris Rock said it best.

@@nicknation9114 Aww.. That's adorable! Your youthful naivete - or alternately, your fear of commitment/desire to keep options open for yourself are showing. What you're attempting to reframe as insecurity is just plain old common sense. Meanwhile, in the pragmatic real world, adults understand that trouble can't walk in through a closed door. Your stanning for single party girl status, but she's a married woman. Even Pastor Cal shot down that madness when she said it. Couples that want fidelity to be a bedrock of their relationship do not needlessly create opportunities for infidelities to occur. Nor do they behave in unstrustworthy ways. Men know other men. We know the deal. And we know that purely platonic friendships with young attractive members of the opposite sex is possible for women, but for men, given the opportunity, most would absolutely have sex with their "platonic" best friend. And she's got 6 male "besties"? Eric should RUN, not walk. kzitem.info/news/bejne/26-tr4aVk3h9p6g
