@@Geebzer You realize printing a box full of cardboard costs them maybe $2-3 a box at most right? Probably even less. Sports cards have been one of the most price gouged consumer goods in terms of raw material to finished product, in the last 25 years especially. A pack in the 80s was 25-50 cents and you got double the amount of cards, not to mention you routinely would pull $5 cards in those .25-.50 packs. Now a pack is $4.99 if you are lucky. But more like $6-$7? They've been price gouging cards since the late 90s. How many cards is in a $35 blaster these days? Like 50? That was $2 in the 80s- early 90s. They simply got extremely greedy and people kept paying deplorable prices. Sometime in the late 90s early 2000s $3.99 and $4.99 became the standard per pack. And consumers accepted that. And topps probably thought wow these idiots will pay whatever we ask lol!! They price gouged them so much that basically from the early 2000s to just years before cards blew up again a pack basically costed the same. Imagine you are making so much off of a dime in materials. That they didn't even bother to raise the price in a decade+ Even $20 today is too much. Getting $2 in cards from a $35 box isn't gonna cut it. $10 for a blaster is where its gonna need to get to for a regular person to stop and think.. hmm would be fun to open some junk cards

They’re literally just thick cards with an unworn piece of cloth in the middle to make you feel like you got something when you got useless junk not worth it’s weight in cardboard. I recommend Epack for hockey cards and marvel cards/comics. All packs are Hobby and you can combine base cards into more rare parallels which you get “achievement cards” for that are amazing and super short print. COMC is sick too, just buy the singles you want unless you’re looking to rip packs. Preach! Sports cards got hot during covid and every company doubled their price on the product. Not to mention it went up 5x to get a card graded. 5x.... thats absolutely ridiculous

Why would anyone in this economy want any cards at all ? What is going on with dudes over spending on cards of people where they have to wait 20 years just to find out if that player becomes a hof legend player?

Been a collector since the 1990s, seeing the hobby like this is a joke. As soon as it got mainstream for ppl to flip in the 2020 covid era and panini took over it has become just a money grab for the big companies. I used to buy blaster for $19.99 and got value usually. Now retail is a complete joke.

Anyone that opens cards understands it's generally a net loss. But if you can atleast feel like you got kind of close to value and also got a couple PC additions then it's whatever. But now days everyone's just getting nothing for their money. I'm proud of everyone for just saying no to these terrible products at terrible prices.

Price increase caused this! Two years ago, this stuff was flying off the shelf. You could not find stuff. When retailers would get shipments, there would be lines of people and the good stuff would be gone immediately. Everyone said that prices needed increased so that scalpers could not make profits and everyone could get some. Well, prices increased. Scalpers cannot profit. And nobody is buying because the prices are way too high.

That's crazy to each is own, I'm in California, they re-stock once a week, your only aloud to buy three blaster boxes at a time, and if they remember you coming in that day they won't sell you nothing, they'll tell you come back tommorow, it doesn't matter there's a bunch of Wal-Mart's and targets to go to, but everybody wants that stuff where I'm at, I pull nothing but fire out of retail, to me retail is better than hobby sometimes, so your world my friend is different than mine, everything gets sold out, there's a huge line outside of target before it opens at 8 in the morning waiting to buy cards, I pulled a Paulo banchero auto from optic, I pulled a Korean zombie auto, Jorge masvidal auto, Josh emmit auto, from optic ufc, you just have no luck, that's the way it is, some people pull fire cards, and some don't....

Yup, kinda done, when the only cards worth a crap are ones that never appear on these very shelves. IMO and after 14 years of heavy collecting, these small blaster boxes àre near worthless to me..

No one wants to bother paying now with the prices so damn high. That’s why I gave up on cards. I’m not paying almost $40 for a blaster and almost $60 for a mega. Those cards can stay on that shelf for all I care.

The reason why people stop buying these cards. Because counterfeit, fake PSAs, Legends taking steroid. I have trouble trade cards for cash for video games. The game I never played is earth bound from SNES.

Stores in Southern California never look like that even after restock. I bet we are solely keeping Panini and topps in business. The only thing that there’s plenty of his hockey here in Southern California otherwise I’ve never seen a shelf like that in almost four years. You are very, very fortunate Degen. Like+subscriber

This is what happens when you flood the market with product, and the people buying the product don't actually want cards of the players, but just want the money hit. That great wall is an indictment of the people buying the product and the dummy company's flooding the market with chase cards. LET'S GO!!!! Lol.

It’s all commons. In the old days, you could buy a retail box and still pull out low numbered autos. My best retail pull was a 1999 UD Black Diamond insert of, then, rookie Tory Holt with two pieces of football on it. The odds in both hobby and retail boxes was 1 in every 1,199 packs! I still own the card.

Here's the problem with this when card flipers ruined the hobby making money on eBay reselling blaster and mega when the pandemic was going on.so yeah all the greedy people whipped out shelves before so now panini marked up the prices and cut back on number cards .

The problem is resellers so we can thank them. I still buy boxes to rip but at the x2 price point. Panini had to raise prices since everyone and their mom was fighting for over retail boxes just so they could resell them. They aren't even card collectors. So before we blame the card companies for raising prices...let's look at the scum bags causing the raised prices Not specifically talking about dude talking in this video...most people complain at the higher prices...so it's always best to look at the reason why the prices went up
