Just found you today! I like your intelligent thoughtfulness! You’re open to learning and experiencing a complex and amazing talent! One in a million, really! One thing that consistently shines through all of Elvis’ work, is his huge heart!! The raw talent was staggering! As you continue to watch him, notice how he is a “producer” on the fly, with his band and singers! He gives subtle cues to his band before he asks, through gestures, for a change from them. It’s often dramatic! When he flings his arms back, the band halts with a bang! He changes their tempo midstream during many songs! No one did that! He was the talent and producer at every live event! I look forward to watching more of what you share and learn! It’s refreshing to watch your honest and thoughtful experience!! Prepare to be amazed!

Elvis was raised with the blacks & loved them & their music! It was a part of him, gospel & Blues music! It was a gift from the Lord to sing this way! It just came out of Him.

Paul McCartney said on the Larry King live show: "you Americans don't get it at all! We (in the UK), get it! We get it!" Referring to the greatness of Elvis Presley and what a phenomenal world force he was and he changed the course of music forever... us here in South Africa got it too, albeit to a lesser degree... we embraced the Elvis music in the earlier years including his gospel songs. 👍🇿🇦

I love that you're reacting to this! Elvis paid to record two songs in the summer of 1953 and two more in January of 1954. The secretary at the recording studio tried to convince the owner that Elvis was special for a year. In June of '54 he matched him up with a guitarist and a bass player to see if they thought he was ready to record professionally. They thought he was and the three of them recorded "That's All Right" and "Blue Moon of Kentucky" in July of '54 when Elvis was 19. "That's All Right" instantly became a huge regional hit. They started touring around the south part time in '54 and went full-time in '55. In '56 their touring schedule was insane, and that's the year he made several TV appearances and made his first movie. At 21 (in '56) he became a national and international superstar.

At 3:51, that was Anita Wood --his long-time, long suffering girlfriend who ended the relationship with Elvis in 1962. She stuck it out for five years despite his infidelities. I have a book about her and Elvis written by her daughter :"Once Upon A Time." At 8:53 you spoke of how difficult it would be for a celebrity to become President. Ronald Reagan was a movie star who was a popular President for eight years. At 12:05 the footage of Elvis was from 1956 when he was 21. He started out at 19. But by age 21 he was both nationally famous and world famous at the same time. You later spoke of Elvis doing mostly songs by blacks in the 1950s. He did some by Arthur Crudup and others, but a lot of his songs were written by Leiber and Stoller on the 1950s. They were two young Jewish guys.

Always love your videos and reactions! Elvis had a hard time doing concerts when he first got famous because he had the black ladies in his group. He turned down many concerts, If blacks weren't allowed. He stood by his back up singers, If they weren't allowed he would simply leave with them! Elvis loved everyone no matter what color they were.

This is a great documentary. Bob Geldolf got his age wrong as Elvis was 21 in 1956. He recorded That’s alright in 1954 on the 5th July I believe so he would have been 19. To date , Elvis has 21 UK number one’s. This documentary was about 20 years ago but I still enjoy watching it. Great reaction and I’m looking forward to the next part .

@@Goldenchicoreacts Be cautiously aware of any documentary or movie about Elvis, especially his mode of death and weight gain. Most documentaries were made before Sally Hoedel spent three years researching his medical issues..researched all personal and hospital reports and records and famiy medical history..very indepth. No one else has. Elvis was not fat. He was bloated due to water retention. He could lose 30 lbs of fluid in a week. You can see this for yourself if you compare shows a few weeks apart. He had 9 medical disorders in 11 body systems. I think he knew he was going to die. Every prescribed med in his system at autopsy were for his medical issues. His pain meds were very negligible in his system. You should react to Sally Hoedel's interview on Globetrotting with Trey youtube. Her book is Destined to Die Young, available on Amazon. The truth needs to be told about Elvis' life and death. Real Elvis fans know the truth.

Bob Geldoff, who is the one who claimed that Elvis was 18 in that clip, was wrong. Elvis was 21 in 1956. Still young, but not a teenager anymore. Too bad you talked through Sam Philips, who first recorded Elvis at Sun Studios, when he said that Elvis was probably the most timid, shy person he'd ever known. Elvis was born in a 1 room shack of a house his dad built with money he borrowed from his boss on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. That's how dirt poor they were. He was one half of identical twins; the other boy - Jesse Garon - was stillborn. They were so poor, that Jesse Garon was buried in a shoebox in an unmarked grave. At Graceland they have a plaque with his name on it in his memory. He always got along with the black community and learned a lot about music from his friends of color. Also, according to the one drop rule, Elvis would not be considered white, since he has Cherokee ancestors on both the Smith (his mother) and the Presley (his father) sides of the family. His paternal grandfather was not happy that his two sons, Elvis' father Vernon and his brother Vester, married two sisters, Gladys and Clettes who were known to have Cherokee blood in their family tree. But he was in denial about the Cherokee blood in his own family tree. Elvis wanted to be more open about it, but his manager "colonel" Tom Parker (real name Andreas van Kuijk) was against it because he was afraid it might cost Elvis fans (and himself money). They did have Elvis play characters in his movies though where he had Native American blood (Flaming Star, G.I. Blues, Stay Away Joe). Once Elvis had his own (apprentice) job learning to be an electrician, he saved up his money and bought his clothes in the same style that many of his friends of color wore. He was called a (forgive me, just stating facts here) "n-lover" and got beaten up several times too. Later, when he was an established star, he would not perform at places where the members of color of his back-up band/orchestra weren't allowed.

Glad you like re Man, considering your age; unfortunately i must agree with some comments below about being silent during the playing of the video; it's very disruptive & makes it impossible for us out here to know what people are saying since you are talking over everyone -- especially since the audio quality is tinny sounding; the following is from an old nursery rhyme: "A wise old owl lived in an oak; the more he saw the less he spoke; the less he spoke the more he heard; why can't we all be like that wise old bird"
