Reminds me of Vagner Rocha's americana from back triangle. You can also hip up and over and catch the legs while you have the triangle. Trash compactor. Really compresses the guy since you fold them in half while in the triangle. From 50 50 of the arms.

@@gerrymanda983 been hitting and finishing rear triangles more than I do rear naked strangles. I found if your looking to finish with the choke loosen just enough to cut the angle so its more the calf that is across the artery instead of your hamstring. Makes in much tighter. (think I learned that from lachlan maybe?) if I have control of an arm already though would usually just go for the arm bar or shoulder locks first.

@@melangkoh4184 I hear you're point. and with his experience I'm sure knows what and how to respond. From my perspective and experience level though I still apply a technique and expect the tap to validate the proper form. So if someone is really stubborn I get worried I don't have the technique right and will make small adjustments, one of which is increasing the pressure which could result in injury. I try to be a good training partner and if someone has me in a deep submission I just tap rather than test the tolerances of my joints and cause myself an injury.

Any tips on that rear triangle shoulder lock Nicky Ryan does at around 6:26? I notice he kind of has his knees flared out a bit (which I would think would not be the best way to position the knees if a triangle was the goal , but obviously it might be different with the shoulder lock). I have been doing this in training and it feels like if I pull as hard as I can in the north direction on that arm, while backheeling real hard with my crossed ankles, that it is highly likely to dislocate the shoulder on people . I initially discovered this just simply when pulling on the elbow , trying to roll heavy guys over to the other side . They would all tap , and one guy’s shoulder did a mild dislocation , and that was with me only pulling on that arm about 50% . Any info on technique with this?

My 9 year old grandson looks a lot like this when he spars. Yes, he is freakishly talented. Needless to say he wrecks shop pretty well in his juniors class where he is the smallest and most dominant one in there. It's quite a show! Unfortunately he gets the least support from his BJJ school. They say in Brazil, it's the guy who is loosing who gets the help. I'm not blaming them, they have to keep the doors open. I'll show him this video and he will be intimately familiar with all these moves just like he is with a truckload of others. One option he uses that I didn't see in the video (maybe it wouldn't work as well at these higher levels?) is he goes under (behind) the exposed arm for the kimura from the inverted triangle for more leverage sometimes. Pretty brutal. Wouldn't it be great if there were a place for the future greats of jiu jitsu to get the support they deserve? I'm thinking it will naturally work out in his favor someday. Devastating position and techniques! Great video!
