Initially, content spendings kept increasing because investors only focus on the subscriber number. Now that investors are only interested in profitability, companies will definitely reduce their content spending... For example, Netflix can probably achieve a lot without increasing its annual content budget of $17 billion. Assuming 70% of the budget (i.e. $12 billion) will be spent to purchase third-party content, Netflix could still produce 15-25 big budget films/series costing $200-$300 million each. That's enough for new content every month!

Right now seeing more and more smaller streaming services be bought-up by bigger services, this gives them content in shows and sporting events and eliminates competition, also extending reach.. whether DAZN buying Eleven or others so many small fish out there. Big spending will shift more and more to buying out competition.
