New Pedal Idea: The guitar world needs an EASY TO USE / EDITABLE Basic Looper Pedal. Seriously, please read on. No drums and other junk, BUT a looper with the ability to EASILY EDIT the Start and Stop points. Call it “Closing The Loop.” Think of how easy it is to edit a video on your iPhone. You could have a screen that shows the loop graphically and have a start point knob on the left and an end point knob on the right that allow you to scroll in and crop part of the beginning and/or part of the end of the loop. Those knobs would allow you to scroll in and out on both ends of the loop to tweak the timing (I.e. to “close the loop.” It should also have the ability to add your little red switch with one click start and one click stop functions (none of that “two clicks to start BS). Another cool added feature could be an “Auto Record” group of settings with options for Auto Start, Auto Stop, 4 beat Count Down to Start (to allow you to do a volume swell at the beginning) and Auto Both. Please think about it. The world is filled with basic loopers and complicated loopers, but none of them have these easy edit functions. JHS could be the first and sell thousands with a big toll-out and a reasonable price (thinking sub-$200). If anyone at JHS actually reads this, thank you for your time and consideration. BD

The best way I've found to use the 9-series pedals in with an EHX Tri-Parallel - the parallel mixing of a single source through any combination of 3 effects loops allows the 9-series pedal to sound like a separate instrument mixed (as if at the sound board) with the guitar with various guitar effects added in the other fx loops. By heavy use of the sustain on a couple of the pedals (Mel-9 and Synth-9 particularly), a pad + guitar can be achieved (somewhat like a Freeze, but only affecting one of the instruments)!

I am the only musician in my church and lead worship playing acoustic/electric guitar, along with three girl singers. I make my own backing tracks with Aeros Looper and Beatbuddy. But what makes all the difference is the EHX String 9, and the Stryman Cloudburst pedals! The backing tracks I make sound great. The SingularSound Looper and drum machine make it so easy to create them. But the String 9 and Cloudburst make my acoustic sound just incredible! Would recommend all this gear to anyone wanting to make the best backing tracks, and want a single acoustic guitar to sound like heaven!

Bass9 owner here! You perfectly described me as the target audience. I think everyone wants a combined 9 series pedal with all sounds combined, midi presets, expression input and a dedicated freeze footswitch. Besides that, a Piano9 or Pia9 with grand piano and DX7 style sounds would be cool.

Thanks for bringing back the style of the pandemic-era videos which got me through 2020. I'm a bassist who has used an EHX Bass Mono Synth pedal for years, but what I's REALLY like them to develop is a pedal FOR bass which emulates all the classic keyboard bass sounds like Taurus, Mini Moog, organ pedals, etc., as well as more modern keyboard bass sounds. A polyphonic pedal which tracks well on bass -- I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Oooh, back in the groove. Really loving the switched rhythm section in the jams. Re the pedals, I have a couple of friends who bought the B9 independently and sold it pretty much immediately because they just didn’t get it. I think the whole range has great possibilities if you’re prepared to put the time into incorporating sounds into your music.

As someone who has owned and used the B9 for a number of years, live and studio, one of the best pieces of advice I can give is seperate it from your guitar completely. So live, ideally a full range keyboard amp or the PA with only wet signal, then run the dry guitar through your regular guitar amp. Immediately takes on a life of its own and sounds better for it. Treat it more like a seperate instrument and it'll sound more like one. EHX were smart to make a dry output for this, then you can turn the dry control dial to zero and get only organ, perfectly separating the two. I cannot emphasise this enough.

Unfortunately these pedals are not converting or handling MIDI in any way. They are basically reprocessing the input sound using FFT algorithms, which radically reshape the spectral characteristics of an input source. It’s also how EHX’s freeze and super-ego pedals work.

Listening to Bill Rupert sold me on the c9. I run signal through aby switch. A goes to guitar rig and B goes to PA channel. I have to drop highs and volume there because I'm not going to finger pick just for c9 sake. It makes a nice filler lower in the band mix and only use it for extra texture here and there. Ty for this great video!

Man! For some reason, I'm always fascinated by a pedal that makes a guitar sound like not-a-guitar. Suggestions for future pedals: basically anyrhing you can somewhat accurately simulate. Like a full array of brass and woodwind instruments from tuba to piccolo would be cool (might take more than one pedal for that). And i concur with another person commenting that real sounding piano sounds would be useful. Something different would be a "not quite a guitar" pedal that has mandolin, uke, oud, sitar, and whatever else in that category.

I bought the B9 and the M9 and resell'em very quickly. My error was to consider these pedals as the "final solution", as you astutely noted, for what I had in my mind and which I didn't want to inform a keys player about. I know, it sounds very selfish but this happens when you don't know how to write a single note. It might be better to learn once for all how to do it...🤔

Bob Moog said in one of his last interviews that Moog is pronounced like Vogue. I remember the first synth pop record I ever heard was “Popcorn”. This was the early 1970s. There were plenty of programs, such as the UK’s Tomorrows World, which featured the Moog synths. It was always pronounced back then with the “oo” sound. My theory as to why it was pronounced like that was because synths were always portrayed as THE FUTURE. And Moog sounds more futuristic than Mogue.
