I love working with sapele. The interlocking grain pattern not only looks beautiful and almost iridescent in a way, but it’s so damn stable. I mostly work with maple when building cabinet frames and doors and, since most maple sucks these days, it almost always freaks out and bows during the milling process. Sapele is the opposite. It’s going to sit exactly you how you mill it. Absolutely stunning wood and great for exterior use since it’s water and mold resistant.

I've found that sapele can move after machining but only where the grain runs out of parallel to the wood.
