Cameron seems to have a "love him" or "hate him" type of vibe. There are several actors, like Bill Paxtor and Arnold, who worked with Cameron many times. Even Kate Winslett came back for Avator. Let's not ignore the contentious relationship Cameron/Hurd had with the film's composer, the late James Horner, where the scenes were re-edited, which meant Horner having to adapt to suit, when Horner protested was told _"If you can't deliver, we'll find somebody who can..."_ luckily Horner called their bluff and continued, but vowed never to work with Cameron again. That was largely because when he finally got down to composing the score, he only had three weeks when it was supposed to be six. When Ridley Scott went to Hollywood to direct Bladerunner, he had exactly the same experience with the American crew. They were openly hostile to him. There's nothing inherently wrong with either crews. This is a culture clash issue.

I had not heard this story. I'm reading an online article, "The Mutiny That Nearly Destroyed James Cameron’s “Aliens” "

Every director has right to be upset and strict else the movie would be a joke. Did you guys not realise how Shelly Duvall has to face the hardships that Stanley Kubrick gave her in the movie? That's the reason the movie shined just like Aliens. Ofc the one that will be in the top of the position will have some egos. There's nothing wrong be because business and relationship goes opposite way.

A director and his crew have ego problems. It's a miracle that they've been able to make such masterpiece. See? Tolerance and being humble are the key of success. All those who supported and tolerated these bunch of megolaniacs should deserve a price too.

it blows my mind how they had never watched the terminator. they were even invited to watch it one night during filming but all declined. If your doing a movie for what you call a nobody but his 2nd movie had been released. Youd wanna see it right? even before filming started. I would

Overwork? They got paid more money in one movie then you make in 10 years of salary. Camron should of fired them all

I believe it was a simple of case of the crew and production team taking their allocated and lawful rest/tea breaks when they were due at the drop of a hat. Even if in the middle of a shoot or dressing up the set, Cameron not being used to the strict labour laws in UK didn’t like it when the lady with the tea trolley turned up and everyone dropped what they were doing😂 Even Sigourney Weaver sided with the brits and acted the peacemaker.

Like everything in life, you have to do the best you can with what you got even if it means weathering through and putting up with a lot of crap from those who are disrespectful in one form or another. Those who underestimate someone will always end up eating crow as their reward sooner or later.

I know there’s a lot more to this story from multiple sides but I know in the past Lucas and (I think Spielberg) had similar situations at Pinewood. English film crews just didn’t get along well with Hollywood directors back then.

George Lucas had issues filming Star Wars at Pinewood Studios. The crew voted if they wanted overtime and they always voted no. The only time they were quiet and respectful was when Alec Guinness was on set. Of course I’ve heard Cameron can be a beast. At one point on ‘The Terminator’ set Michael Biehn was so frustrated with Cameron he told him ‘everyone on set knows you can do their job better than they can but you can’t play Kyle Reese! So let’s shot this thing and move on!’

Not the first time the crew didn't like the director. When filming Jaws, the crew hated Steven Spielberg so much they planned to throw him into the sea on the final day of filming. Steven found out about the plot and the moment filming wrapped up he ran to his car and raced off. Elsewhere during the filming of Spartacus, actor Kirk Douglas clashed frequently with director Stanley Kubrick. When Kubrick refused to put a certain scene in the movie, Kirk rode up to him on his horse and backed him into a wall and demanded they shoot that scene.
