I have a 700 watt model of this for about 2 years or so so far. Maybe longer. I find under load it's exhaust is pretty warm, but, it has worked flawlessly with a 2070 and I have done brief mining for hours here and there, nothing overkill. I would recommend this PSU as well. 5 year warranty speaks for itself too tbh. Thermaltake is decent stuff like most Corsair.

I've had the 600W version of this power-supply since September of 2017, so a tick over 4 years now, and I've had zero issues with it. (knock on wood.) ;-) It's been running a Core i7-3770K CPU (overclocked to 4.4 GHz) with a GeForce GTX 1060 GPU that whole time, literally 24/7 since I use it as a server and leave it running all the time, and it's never caused any problems for me. (Again, knock on wood.) ;-) I just upgraded my computer to an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and a Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro AX motherboard, still using the same GTX 1060 GPU (I don't game on this machine -- that card is used solely for Plex Media Server encoding/decoding), and it's still more than enough power -- even with everything running at absolutely its maximum load, which you'd never see in real life, plus adding 10% for a safety margin, this machine will never surpass 400 watts -- so this 600W PSU is still more than enough. No point in replacing it, really. Sure, I can get more efficient ones nowadays, but, really will they be *that* much more efficient? I don't think so. Just not worth the cost and hassle.

I've had this particular PSU in a backup rig (i5-4460, RX 570 4GB, and 16GB DDR3 RAM) that I run every now and then, running FurMark, 3DMark, Cinebench R20, and experimenting with very demanding games with the system under full load (434w, according to Outervision's PSU Calculator) for two years, and, luckily, STILL have yet to encounter any of the issues mentioned. That said, the Cultists' PSU Tier List gave this particular unit an F Tier, due to issues relating voltage regulation and spotty overcurrent protections. It was fine for the time being, but I'm in the process of replacing it with an EVGA 500GD, seeing as how I'm experimenting there more often now, and I do not want to go through a repeat of the whole "PSU exploding in my face" thing. Still, should I be worried? Am I justified in moving up to a better PSU, as a precaution?

for basic builds with either a low end GPU or no GPU at all (G series AMD or most Intels with built in graphics), this sort of PSU is just fine. Since you're running the whole PC far below load, it's shortcomings will never be an issue. I'd never ever suggest a Smart series for any "serious" PC build over $600 where you are getting any sort of decent GPU or higher end processor.

From ontario I say thanks, bro! Just started picking up the parts, took 5 months to decide on the build but the psu is last thing to figure out. Have spent a looooot of time researching, and your declaration of the psus potential to short the whole system, goooood call out buddeh I'm trying to budget the build as efficiently as possible, but your words really make me consider if saving the 30 canadian pebbles is worth it (eyeing a gigabyte 650w with good reviews and testing, down to 70$ from 120$)

I had everything assembled for my son's PC build and planned on getting it done, realized the PSU I ordered was missing cables. So I needed a cheap one until I could get the correct cable for the good PSU. Picked up the 600w TT smart PSU from best buy for 40 bucks. Put it all together and it's been running flawlessly for 2 years. He'll run it 12 hrs some days. Looked up some testing done on this PSU and it has the proper protections, uses some Chinese parts instead of Japanese but it's a solid PSU & should it fail, won't hurt anything. It's already passed the test imo. $10 more and you can get the one with RGB, same PSU but with a RGB fan. Looking at the teardowns, the RGB version has a TT 1225 which is a fan they use in many of their RGB cases, a common cheap fan, but I've seen those run quietly many years. The non RGB fan looks much cheaper and isn't RGB of course. So if I had to do it again I'd consider the RGB one not for lights, but due to the fan being better quality.

I have this PSU, but I also recently bought from amazon a Thermatake 850w that is in the A tier of cultist. It was $100 and penny pinching me is watching tons of a videos about the 600watt smart version I already have to see what chance there is of it frying my computer. Seems like all the bad reviews from Amazon are Dead on arrival PSU, and I've yet to see a "it killed everything" comment. Though $100 is a nice insurance policy, even though I do not forsee myself needing PCIE5.

@@moibrahim0 I had the 500W and it died on me in under a year. Same thing happened to my friend who bought the same one (we built around the same time and built very similar systems, only difference was the case and the SSD I chose). It was fine when it worked, but it would randomly black screen crash like once a week or so until it started doing that any time I launched a game. I thought it was my GPU dying but I bought an EVGA semi-modular and haven't had any problems since. Maybe my friend and I having one that lasted under a year was a fluke but personally I won't buy one again.

get new psu, especially if you have a good gpu, this psu shuts down your whole pc cause of the wattage, 300+ wattage and it shuts down, i wouldnt recommend this psu especially for high budget cpu and gpu
