I separated the Noctua NF-A12x25 and Thermaltake ToughFan 12 Turbo video into two tabs. In this case I tried to notice the noises emitted by the fans with similar rotations. I came to the conclusion that at 1500 rpm more or less Thermaltake made more noise than Noctua fan. Same noise with Thermaltake was the same noise when Noctua was at 1700 rpm. And when Noctua was at 2000 rpm it made almost the same noise when Thermaltake was at 1700 rpm. And finally when Thermaltake reached 2000 rpm I thought it was the Noctua industrial fan with almost 3000 rpm. I hope this channel grows a lot because the content is very good. Hugs and success ever.

Not a lot of creators out there that test fans. Appreciate the vid. Planning on getting myself a few of these to keep disperse/exhaust heat.

I have a "regular", 2000 RPM non-Turbo version and I love it. Very, very quiet. I had 4 in my old case and now I use one as pull on Liquid Freezer II 120 AIO, on a 10400F. It idles at 450 RPM and it's dead silent until 800-850 RPM. With my fan curve, it doesn't go over 1200 in full load and it's still very quiet. It also came with accessories, unlike this version - 2 sets of regular and 2 sets of long screws for radiators, a V-splitter and pair of low-noise adapters. Paid 36€ for a 2-pack, very good price for what you get. The only think I dislike about it is ridiculously long cable (90cm!), you have to route it around the case like it's a PSU cable but I imagine people with large cases will appreciate that.

I agree with you on all those points, it is a very nice fan. The cable is absurdly long though. Same thing on the Thernaltake Pure A12 LED fan I have

Which software are you using to measure RPM and show it on computer screen?

I use a bash script, which runs a Python program. There's probably better ways to do this, but it's how I do it. I then run the bash script in Konsole.

What voltage is going to the PWM at 2000 rpm?

Bought 3 of these to put on a rad. One developed a tapping noise from bearing and now 2nd one developed another bearing noise. ATM 3rd one is ok but really, cannot recommend these from reliability reasons. As a fan, they are pretty damn good until they are not good anymore.

Yeah I had a similar experience with mine, there was a random tapping noise from the bearing. I tried to capture it on video, but its inconsistent. Maybe it only happens in a vertical orientation. Happens often enough to be annoying to me though.

This has given me pause - I've got two 2000RPM 14cm Toughfans I was about to install (I've had them kicking around for a year), just tested them on 12v DC and for sure they're very smooth and quiet for the speed and amount of air they move (that tight blade/frame clearance definitely helps). Others have remarked on Thermaltake and their habit of copying other, often 'premium' designs/products (not just fans) - the Toughfans are made of the same material as the Noctua NF-A (needed for that tight blade clearance), but perhaps even if they've copied the bearing _design_ they haven't got the production engineering know-how or facilities to reproduce the quality.

Damn that must’ve been pushing a lot of air at the end there. Is this the infamous Noctua clone or an alternate model? I think this ‘Turbo’ model is different to the clone iirc?

I have some stuff on this written in the description, you should check it out. AFAICT, the Turbo is exactly the same as the standard ToughFan, it just has a higher max speed, and different impeller colour. Also I think the standard ToughFan comes with accessories, while the Turbo lacks anything besides screws - just like how standard Noctua fans come with a bunch of stuff, but chromax/iPPC/redux versions just have screws.

That's not true. The "Turbo" impeller has a slight difference in design. It may look the same at first glance but if you look at it closely the turbo blade is flatter as opposed to the regular tough fan 12 is more angle. Go to amazon and select the turbo then with your mouse hover over the regular tough fan to see it easier. The flatter design allows it to stabilize on max speed according to Thermaltake!

Still relatively quiet with mostly air movement noise. Would be interesting to see how a tough fan 14 sounds as been waiting forever for noctua to make a 140mm fan but only Thermaltake seems to have one in that design

Personally I would go with the Turbo since I like having performance headroom and I don't need the extra accessories.

For an audio reference, so that you can easily hear how it sounds compared to a mouse click.
