was it worth it? was it noticeable lighter? did you do a cost difference with plywood? Im just starting to research for a Duckworth.

Wood will rot out and you will eventually need to replace it… so this is definitely worth it as a upgrade and a selling point if I were to sell the boat someday. Weight difference was 130 pounds. Here is the write up. www.ifish.net/threads/thermolite-floors-in-my-seahawk.1648059/

How rough was the texture when finished? can you walk on it comfortably with bare feet?

It’s not bad at all… the grippy particles in the durabak are made of rubber so it doesn’t hurt. But noticed after one year of fishing the “grey” color is wearing off in high traffic areas exposing the “black” of the rubber…

Such a nice job! I’m about to take on the project myself. Do I need special cutting blades to cut thermolite? And can you sand thermolite back in certain areas if you need to make fine adjustments?
@salmonkiller2545

Just a regular blade for the saws… I tried a fin tooth finish blade or plywood blade for my circular saw and it made the cutting more difficult.. Yes!! Sanding it is very easy for fine adjusting and rounding the sharp edges of fresh cut material. Good luck 👍🏽

I saw your video and was just wondering after 2 years of thermolite flooring in your boat, I was wondering how you like it and how is it holding up/wearing?

I’m still extremely happy with my decision. The floors are holding up very well. The Durabak is adhering perfectly…. I have a few spots on the floor that are “stained” not sure what was spilled? Also the Durabak is made from shredded rubber tires… so grey paint/glue mixed w/black rubber tires pieces …. in the “high traffic” areas the “grey” paint is wearing off and exposing the “black” shredded rubber tire. Not a huge deal but something to consider. I plan to make a follow up video this summer.

Where we’re you able to procure the sheets? Is it cost effective over coosa?

Applied Plastics in Portland Oregon.... Price was about the same as Coosa at the time.

With all the money you spent on doing it why didn't you weld the supports to avoid future problems and it would have been quicker and cheaper?
