Thermosetting plastics are made up from long chains of molecules that are cross-linked. They have a very rigid structure. Once heated, thermosetting plastics can be moulded, shaped and pressed into shapes. Once set they cannot be reheated since they are permanently set.

So what happens when you heat themosets in the absence of oxygen so they don't burn? Will they eventually melt? All things as far as I'm awar either melt or vaporise

Why do you think they charge you to recycle tires it pays them it's extra money it doesn't cost much to recycle a tire and it's a good job it's rubber it is meltable it doesn't burn if you control oxygen,... I agree with you 100% about Plastics but tires are rubber not plastic
@ojk3863
5 жыл бұрын
Rubber is a type of elastomer. Elastomers are also types of polymers (?) look, the point is he never called rubber a plastic he called it a polymer, being a polymer(thermoset) does not make a material automatically plastic...
@Alfierocks1109

how would you shape a thermoset, if it burns once it is heated. would injection moulding not be used as it requires the pellets to be heated before being injected into a mould, any help would be great
