Funny thing about the number 2 cards. Slash Panther has the same stat line and CMC but costs phyrexian red and is an artifact. Still looks bad it but there was a brief period where vintage shops players used it as a way to take out Jace, The Mindsculptors.

As least the Panther is technically 4 mana, which is something that can drop on the turn 4, on the same turn Jace drops. The #2 cards would need 1 more turn to drop or if your opponent was delayed with their land drop O.O So I get the idea why it skipped this list
@therealHLY

slash panther is significantly better though, by virtue of being a 4 mana card rather than 5 mana meaning it comes out a whole turn earlier, and having the artifact upside that lets shops both tutor it up when they need it and cast it using their massive surpluss of artifact only mana. same reason goblin chariot wasn't in the number 9 slot, creature type can change a cards viability a lot. a 4 mana 4/2 with a good creature type isn't amazing but it's leagues better than a 5 mana 5/2 without it, and it's also in shops so it's not... actually getting cast most of the time, being a tech card to specificly deal with jace and mostly either cheated out, or played using metalworker etc so its functionally 0 mana.

Spirit of the Night, Akroma, Razia, Rorix, and even Hunted Dragon (not really a downside giving opponent creatures). Shrieker "hiding" back in the library can also slow down the tempo on damage (attacking with the same Shrieker instead of two creatures on the next turn). Having Haste on your Grey Ogre is certainly a nice upside to have although there are plenty of better options. Considering how a 2/2 for 3 was once pretty standard I see it being a little harder to put down the improvements to that even when they are poor today. Ignoring an upside isn't a downside at all. In fact, the variance actually makes it an upside. "You may draw a card" is actually better than "draw a card", BECAUSE you can ignore that upside if you're close to getting an empty library and don't wanna tempt that fate. The same is true even when it's your opponent making the choices for you; them ignoring your upside doesn't make it a downside.
