As for going to the home depot to get black socket covers and stuff, if he had any paint left over from that PS5 job, he could use that for the cover at least. As for the socket itself, paintng is possible, but, unless you really know what you're doing, I'd say just get a new black socket.

18:20 Not just mount the junction box to the wall. he also needs to put that NM Romex inside of a conduit pipe because its in a interior dwelling where it can run the risk of damage. That's per NEC code 334.15 Exposed Work. BE SAFE!
@ArsStarhawk
2 жыл бұрын
Would anchored BX work as well? Although I guess conduit is as easy at that point.
@dirtyvinyl8817
2 жыл бұрын
@@ArsStarhawk So, the short answer is yes, it will work, and is accepted by NEC code make sure to use proper terminators at the junction box, regular romex connectors wont work because they don't hold the BX metal sheathing correctly and secure the BX a minimum of every 6 feet on horizontal runs or 10 feet on vertical runs. The long answer is Check 330.12 AND 330.30. The use of metal-clad cable is acceptable for exposed work, such as running on the surface of a wall or ceiling as long as the cable is not subject to physical damage. but NEC doesn't specify what is considered risk of physical damage. That could be left up to inspectors. I'm just thinking that, suppose you, (im not sure if thats your setup or not lets just pretend) shove the desk against the wall in gamer rage and the desk dents the metal sheathing, then that cable would be considered damaged. Also Flex conduit like BX isnt a good grounding surface like rigged conduit is. if you go with that make sure it comes with its own grounding/bonding conductor. now if you plan on reusing romex cable and just feeding it through some BX flex conduit pipe then i would DEFIANTLY just go with rigged conduit because like you said it would be easiest to feed the romex through it. To me, it looks nicer, and can act as a bonding median as long as the junctions boxes are grounded as well and over all, is the safest. and id always rather go over kill on safety cause you're dealing with conductors, one oopsie can leave you dead. which is why ill end this comment saying please check with your local code as well. don't just take one comment on a youtube video as your only research, and if you ever feel unsure, let a certified electrician do it. as expensive as they are, they are cheaper than a new house or funeral cost and BE SAFE!

When the change happened we were left with a dangling WIRE with the only thing keeping it from being live is a quick Old fashion electrical box with a lever. Without me those wires would still be naked and a safety hazard lol. I got an electrical box on it and putted back the power. Still technically hanging like in this video but still much safer. I have yet to think about the best place to make a pole to screw that electrical box into it because it's a big room with the wire hanging in the middle of nowhere. There's no nearby wall that would make sense to hook that box on a wall.
