For anyone wondering why more modern artists like drake or juice wrld aren't on here, its because physical copies of an album sold are way more important than streams in terms of an album going diamond. Thats why these are all albums from before the age of streaming. I remember buying my first rap album on CD when I was 12/13 and it was The Miseducation of Lauren Hill. That album basically paved the way for my love of hip hop and rap, and still has an impact on me to this day. I bought Q-Tip’s Amplified album the next year, in 1999 when I went into high school. Great memories. I had TLC’s CrazySexyCool cassette tape when I was 9, and it was my first introduction into R&B. My family listened to a lot of 60s,70s , 80s, and early 90s rock and roll, so that’s why I wasn’t introduced to r&b, rap and hip hop until a little bit later on. I have love for all kinds of music except for country. I love classic county music though.

Younger people who only buy music for the novelty will never quite understand how impressive going diamond with physical sales is. Albums couldn't be updated later and had an actual flow (instead of feeling like a playlist). Plus there were less weird gimmicks for boosting sales numbers (i.e. counting a single's streams towards the album's total, deluxe version months later, bundling sales with merch, etc). Albums had actual rollouts with promo singles and radio promotions too. It's not that music was "better" before, but music promo and the art of the album was so much more immersive. The K-pop industry still does this, and imo it's why they have some of the largest and most loyal music fanbases in the world

All Eyez On Me was a double album. Double albums count as one record each if they are part of the vinyl era (1948 - late 1970’s or early 1980’s), or if they are 100 minutes over in length. All Eyez On Me is 132 minutes long, so thus, All Eyez On Me sold 5 Million. So kids, make a double album on vinyl, and get some money fool!
