They are retreading the tire and vulcanizing the rubber, not fixing a puncture. They hardly reached the canvas of the actual tire. It also happens in most 'Western' countries but not as a patch in place, rather a full retreading. Amazing to see this with minimal resources. It might not be the perfect fix, but good enough without having to purchase a whole new tire. Not sure if that was s lead. Could be tin or an alloy containing tin and lead. They are luckily doing this outside

This video is a nightmare. It starts with the men grinding and cutting the tire without the benefit of any kind of protection: gloves; certified work boots; and hearing, eye, and respiratory protection. Presumably, it is lead that is melted and cast to produce the mould for the tire tread. Lead is a know toxin that negatively impacts neurological development and function. Then there is the quality of the repair: Apply rubber to the tire, heat it up, and hope binds adequately to the tire. These men did absolutely nothing, absolutely nothing, to reinforce the structural; integrity of the tire. Does one even get 5,000 to 10,000 km from the repair before the tire experiences a catastrophic failure? Something tells me these men will repair this tire a second or even a third time. These men are are not stilled. They are not mechanics or tradesmen. Their work is a danger to everyone on the road. Frankly, I do not know how they live with themselves and sleep at night.
@pkuneev

What are you different? Normally they all do. Not everyone has money for new tires, so people spin out. It is easy to judge and criticize sitting on the couch and doing nothing with your own hands.
@Teiby3

How do you know if it is lead? Could also be tin. Tin requires less heat to smelt.
@budel1990
2 жыл бұрын
@@Teiby3 You can see it in many things. The behavior in the liquid, for example. The thin oxide layer on the liquid metal is typical of lead. Also, the tin would stick to the ladle sooner than lead. Or cooling down with water. With tin, the water would not bubble up as much on the hot metal. And for me the main argument is the price of lead versus tin.
