Where do you get them from? I have a general authorisation permit and am looking for some naultinus grayii. Also is it true that they can be kept in similar conditions as the new caledonia geckos (crested, gargoyle ect)? My enclosure plan is a 60x60x80cm minimum or larger with a mesh top and circulation fans, it will be indoors but will have fresh air. @@stevo3938

However, if you mean that you won't ever be able to get one due to a wife who has no plans of having them in y'all home then There's absolutely no advice that I can give you regarding that. Nice chunky grayii! I have a yellow Naultinus elegans male, they're usually smaller than grayiis and not as aggressive as this one. Just wait until you guys see the other NZ gecko species... (Naultinus stellatus is my favourite). I live in NZ and paid exactly $0 for my gecko. They're illegal to be traded for money, but anyone can get a license, set up an appropriate enclosure and get geckos from other licensed gecko keepers. They're technically not yours, and the Department of Conservation might one day tell you to hand over your geckos for a release program - although it rarely happens with N. elegans and grayii.
@fenelladeans3962

We used to have a pair of Naultinus elegans that bred every year and it was sometimes hard to find permit holders to give the babies to! Certainly isn't too hard to captive bred ones in New Zealand. The cage size requirements are definitely a bit bigger than the one in this video though.

I’m surprised that this New Zealand green gecko is still alive. Last year I was in New Zealand and saw their natural habitat, I was talking to an zookeeper about the care and he said they need low temperatures and the most important part is that this gecko needs lot of air flow so they don’t die . The zoo kept all of their green geckos outside in an gaze enclosure that was really wet . I don’t think that he wouldn’t be able to breed these guys if he had an female because the conditions in his enclosure are not very close to their natural habitat . But i wish him the best luck that he find a female and breed this awesome species!

I'm from the Canary Islands, here there are several endemic species of lizards and geckos. It's not uncommon for them to enter homes, especially in summer. I never thought that people would like to have them as pets, it makes me panic when one sneaks into my house and runs around the walls (they're extremely fast!) 🤦🏻
