Funnily enough, the man in the thumbnail is "Li Ching-Yuen" who supposedly lived 256 years. They actually found proof from the emperror congratulating him on this 100th and 150th birthday in the 1800's... But since he died in 1933 they could have never really confirm his age, beside those letters from the emperor and some proof stating that he was in the army in his 70s and 80s a while back. There definitely has to be someone older than Jeanne Calmant that wasn't officially recorded by guinness, but 256 would be double her age and really hard to believe... but what if?

Neo has epiphanies throughout the film. The "stopping bullets" scene is what all that added up to, completing his "make over", where the walls fall away, so to speak, and Neo sees reality for what it is (i.e. not just an epiphany). I would I agree with 42, and say that the scene is a pretty good analogy of enlightenment, rather than just a "glimpse of a truth."

Thanks for explaining this practice Thoughty2! And Let's explain some facts that was missed in the video! First of all, If you want to be a Buddhist monk, you have to remove all your hair (go bald!) and even shave the eyebrows and the beard too! (even so, in some cases you can see some monks have beards sometimes... but they have a set of rules to follow) so, anyone can't casually put a robe and go with your Manly beard and the Mohawk saying "Imma be a monk!". The Second thing is that there are some factions even among the Buddhists! As you've already know, some of them are Mahayana, Therawada (sometimes known as Heenayana, specially by Mahayana people) and the Zen! But actually, Buddha never agreed on extreme asceticism and hedonism as others before me explained well! But what we have to get from this mummification process is the devotion & dedication to something that you want to achieve! Even Buddha himself had a Strong dedication to achieve enlightenment and he said himself that " I will not stand up from this place until I achieve the state of Buddha!" on the Night before he achieved the enlightenment! And we have to praise Mahayana and Zen monks for their dedication to Be spiritual as much as they can! Sometimes you can find such extreme examples like these and overall you can say their work is amazing! It's not that Theravada was less spiritual... Even after the Buddha's time, You can see there were many monks (I mean Tens of thousands) Who achieved the enlightenment! and still there are many Theravada monks who are living a spiritual life in the modern world! The third thing is that enlightenment isn't just a moment that you see the truth or something! That might be somewhat true for some scenarios but in Buddhism, It is described as a state where you are free from the mortal desires, feelings and the cycle of reincarnation! They describe is as the state of true happiness, true immortality and etc. And the Most important thing is, It is permanent! Once you achieved it for real, You don't have to be worried about losing that state! It is really called "Nirvana" in Buddhism ALSO, IF SOMEONE HERE IS A MUCH EXPERT ON THIS TOPIC, PLEASE COMMENT DOWN A BETTER EXPLENATION! MY VOCABULARY IS A BIT LIMITED SINCE MY NATIVE LANGUAGE ISN'T ENGLISH!

@@andrewhay3317 It's been said before by other creators that the algorithm favors certain combinations of words and formulations of titles, so they will change them after upload, sometimes weeks or months later in order to attract more views. The thumbnail may have the original title while the actual text title is something the creator put together as clickbait.

Take it from somebody who is older: Worrying about the unavoidable is absolutely pointless. Life is short and youth even more so. Have some goals but don't forget to enjoy yourself as well, so when the day comes, the things you can be proud of outweigh your regrets. If you really feel you need to live forever, make the world so much better, it will never forget your name. P.S.: Just to be on the safe side - "Better" never involves lots of people dying 😉 🙏

I dislike that people call it a religion, when buddha would have never wanted it to be that way. He was more a teacher and nothing more. Not an image to be worshipped and praised. Just like any old religion or dogma, throughout time and translation it gets disturbed and changed into something completely different from what it actually was.

Reminds me of the sadhus in Himalayan mountains said to be living on just dew or not eating at all but in suspended animation. Interesting that it's so similar. I remember a story my grandfather told me, that one of his friends had joined sanyansi hood or saint hood and moved near Himalayas . They said he met by chance with a sadhu doing upsana or prayers for more than one fifty years in search of moksha. They were not supposed to disturb him .i guess it's same suspended animation but in cold because mind you it's on very remote areas near gangotri in Himalayan ranges. They train their body to overcome everything,n that is first stage of moksh. Eventually my grandfather's friend came back to main valley with fellow sanyansi group n lived that life. They were not that extreme as the one's on extreme areas doing prayers. This reminds me of that...hmmph. n they also were very skinny like skeleton, YET he said that person was living for so long but in state of meditation. Idk how much of it is true but similar stories are present in hindu sadhus. It's the ultimate goal for anyone trying to gain moksh nearer to God i think.

Monks in India & Tibet have also demonstrated an absolute devotion to moksha or nirvana that transcends the bondage of the physical self in ways that would appear torturous to outsiders as well. I admire this clarity.

I wonder if when they were put in the boxes to die, they could ring the bell a certain way and be dug back up? I guess at that point you’re so weak and also dedicated that you wouldn’t want to reconsider life, but I do wonder if that ever happened.
