I was SO JAZZED for the Patrick Ta highlights and picked up 3 the day they launched because I assumed they would be the same formula as the blush duos and those are perfection (in my opinion), so why would we mess with a good thing? Wrong. The formula is totally different. The ingredients list on the cream highlight is all coconut as castor oil. Essentially a cleansing balm. And we are going to dab that on over a dusty glittery duochrome powder and let it just coagulate and form some sort of gooey highlighter gravy on our cheeks? It stays greasy, gummy, gunky, never sets down so it creases up around the eyes, and removes concealer underneath. And on a hot day - forget it. That will be melting down your cheeks like buttery tears. The biggest disappointment of the year thus far.

I still like their Kush tinted lip balms. And when they first launched, having product in roller ball applicators was actually a nice way of putting their products in streamlined packaging that was convenient for on the go. I still have a roll on blush oil. But…as seems to be the case for so many of the products competing in Sephora…gimmicks are going to be the death of them. Their “cooling water” blush Jello sticks are, as Kelly demonstrated, practically unblendable. Now it’s eyebrow gel tubing? Nobody needs that. I am convinced that “old school” brands like Clinique and Lancôme have lasted so long without a lot of odd products (except for that Lancôme vibrating mascara wand!) is because they target the middle aged and older market of people who just want lipsticks, foundations, etc., aren’t interested in gimmicks, and are fairly brand loyal.

I just find the Kosas blushes to be a little too saturated and, like, high color temperature (am I using that right?) in the shade range for them to *also* be shimmery. Like the Milani baked blushes have a similar level of sheen in most shades, but the color choices are more elegant. The Kosas ones look very punchy and are freaking gorgeous on tan to deep skin tones but as someone who can only get to NC30 or so in the summer they don’t balance with everyday makeup well.
@kristiang1870

Re: highlighters - I was hoping the Patrick Ta highlights were different from the holiday palette highlighter from a couple of years ago but it sounds like they made the (bad) decision to keep the old formula :( Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Highlighter stick duos are already a thing and that product is so much better and actually makes sense. Patrick Ta’s highlight balm is basically lip balm in a pan whereas Pat Mcgrath’s balm is more of a ‘dry’ balm that leaves skin glowy and preps it for the other side of the stick with more pigment. Not sure if PMG highlighter sticks are still sold in Sephora, I saw a lot of PMG marked down for a while.

I know the idea behind tubing *mascara* is that it is (supposed to be, anyway) sweat-proof, oily-skin proof, etc. enough so that it won’t budge if you wear it to the gym or a physical labor job or at a summer festival. However - who applies eyebrow gel thickly enough that it runs down their face? Tammy Faye Bakker maybe, and she’s dead. I think Milk has latched onto a gimmick.

That sunscreen is greasy and yellow. A NO for me! I ordered Baby in the Patrick Ta Highlighter, so we shall see. I figured the balm will be good for my lips. To me the real problem is that sunscreen. A tubing *brow gel*? Who needs that? I know tubing mascaras are supposed to be long-lasting and won’t budge till you take them off, so you can wear them to the gym, on a manual labor job, etc. but I’ve never heard of people having a problem with eyebrow gel or powder or pencil running or smearing. Milk Makeup is probably going to be a “Rise and Fall” pretty soon at the way it’s going, grabbing for the gimmicks. (I do still have an old Milk Makeup blush oil in “Ripe,” a rosy pink, that I’m hanging on to because the shade is great, but they’ve gone and discontinued actually usable products like roll-on blush oils for that awful “cooling water” stuff that Kelly rightfully panned. Another gimmick!) I know cosmetics companies want to stand out in this saturated market, but, jeez, gimmicks are going to be the death of them. If I want to experiment with something gimmicky I’ll go for a drugstore product - less $ wasted if I hate it.

I'm light-medium neutral -golden/warm and got My love and Sugar. Both look exquisite. But be warned: apply with a light hand !!!! When built up, they CAN be seen from space/ tin man. But softly applied, they are true to claims: wet skin, subtle glisten. Perfect for me. Sheer and lovely. And this being the case......they'll last forever and a day.
