I camped right outside Sedona near the Palatki and Honanki Heritage sites. These are amazing places, as I hinted in my last video. Really glad to share the whole experience. These sites were home to the Sinagua people who lived in the Verde Valley area from 650-1400. They built wonderful pueblos in cliff faces and ridge tops. Palatki and Honanki were built in cliff faces and have withstood much of the weather through the centuries.
Although the Sinagua people lived in the area from 650 AD, these two sites weren't built until around 1100 and then abandoned around 1300. This was probably due to changing weather conditions. The area experienced a prolonged drought in the late 1200's and overall drier conditions. The Sinagua were expert farmers and relied on their crops for food and clothing.
