The reporting in this is very strongly leaned towards fear mongering of a device that does nothing more than allow for sustained fire on a single trigger pull. It doesnt make the firearm more or less dangerous. It doesnt increase the "kick back". Imagine going to prison for a decade because of a small piece of metal that you bought on the internet, attached to your gun and took to the range. Its as silly as getting ten years for having a vertical grip on a pistol or putting a stabilizer brace to your shoulder. I think the ATF agent having a dark side lightsaber above his desk says a lot. If a government agency has legitimate fear of automatic weapons in the hands of civilians, its safe to say we need them more than we know. They (the media) are using children on social media as an example of who we should fear getting access to these items as if children have access to firearms already, as if THAT isnt a problem. They ended the video talking about being concerned about what our kids see online. On the topic of.....full auto switches for guns that children shouldnt have access to.......but on the internet, children have access to snuff videos, porn and chat rooms where pedophiles can bait them. The misinformation is staggering.

I dont see what the big deal is anyone who knows how a firearm works can make one out of a block of steel nowadays. even plastic ones. And unless we make laws saying we cant fabericate things criminals will always be able to get ahold of any firearm they want. And the only way to protect yourself is to carry a firearm and get training with said firearm.

While these firearms meet the legal definition of a "machine gun", they are more accurately classified as a "machine pistol." The machine pistol concept has been around since the start of the 20th century with early examples being the Austrian Steyr M1912 pistol and the German Mauser C96 (first invented in 1896) being amongst the earliest semi-auto pistols converted to select fire capability. Later versions being the Russian Makarov Stechkin, and the P-35 Browning Hi-power converted by the Inglis firm, MAC 10 and 11, among many others. Since they are converted, often stock less handguns (some are capable of being fitted with a stock for better control and accuracy), they almost always share a characteristic common to the class, the short recoil movement of the slide or bolt and the gun's light weight invariably leads to an insanely high cyclic rate of fire (1000-1500 rounds per minute usually) that is very difficult to control without extensive training. Other than issue to specialized special operations units for extremely focused missions, (like assassinations) the machine pistol concept fell out of favor with the development of compact sub-machine guns in most of the world's militaries.
